The character is Ruth, a despised Moabite, who becomes the ancestor of David and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Her encounter with a God that sometimes comes to us in difficulty and disappointment, when everybody else does what is right in their own eyes.
Above all else, God’s love is promise-keeping love, the kind of love Ruth showed to Naomi: “May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”
