Roy comes to Shoreline with 14 years of children’s ministry experience. A product of Bethany College and Global University, he is also a veteran Awana commander, Rorheim Institute trainer, Certified Church Consultant, and Charter Member of The Society for Church Consulting. Roy is committed to growing healthy families through strong church-family partnerships, and providing a fun, safe atmosphere where children can grow in the grace of God. A Monterey native, Roy married his wife Barb in 1974. Roy and Barb have successfully survived the raising and launching of their three children; Cory, Robin and Stacy, and are relishing the role of grandparents for Crystal Catherine, Naomi Grace, Samuel Allen, James Allen and Marian Carol. Roy can occasionally be spotted cycling around the Monterey area.

Jill Brodsley Shoreline Preschool Assistant/Teacher

Jill is a teacher’s assistant on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for the 4s class on the Shoreline Church campus. Jill has attended Shoreline Church since 2005, when she first became a Christian, and she loves what Shoreline represents. Jill went to college in Chico and worked in the nursing field for four years until her daughter was born in 1998. She then became a stay-at-home mom, and three years later she and her husband had a son. Jill started at Shoreline Preschool in the fall of 2008. Her love for the Lord continues to grow every day she works there. She loves the women she works with, the families, and of course all the amazing children she gets to be with every day! Jill was born and raised in Monterey County, and currently lives in Corral De Tierra with her husband Erik and their two children, Madison and Jacob. During the summer Jill spends much of her time enjoying boating activities at the family lake house; during the winter she loves to hit the slopes. She also enjoys working out and watching movies and football…Go Saints!

Donna joined the Shoreline Staff as the  Communications Director in September of 2012.    As the Communications Director she has the opportunity to collaborate with every ministry at Shoreline to find the best way to present the  various ministry events and opportunities to both the Shoreline congregation as well as the community.  Donna holds a BS in Business Administration (Marketing) from San Diego State University.  She has been attending Shoreline since 2006 and also serves as the Usher Coordinator for Sunday morning services alongside her husband Jay.  Jay and Donna live in Salinas and have 2 daughters, Marissa and Erica.

Rebecca Buchanan Administrative Assistant Care Ministry

Rebecca serves on staff as the Administrative Assistant to Care Pastor John Houseman. In 2011, she moved from Las Vegas to the Monterey Area to enroll in the Nursing Program at Monterey Peninsula College. Since then, she has attended Shoreline and served in various ministries. Rebecca has a heart for Missions and loves working with Middle School girls. She would eventually like to combine her nursing degree with her love for serving others and serve in medical missions around the world.

Sharon Burwell Community Outreach and Greeter Coordinator

Sharon is the one greeting you before services and other events with a “Good morning,” “How are you today?” and most importantly a SMILE! She coordinates the other greeters and makes sure the connection center is organized and the surrounding area is looking pretty. Sharon went to Valley College for Medical and Dental Assistants in North Hollywood, and was a registered dental assistant for 37 years until last August. She has been married to her present husband Carlton for nine years, and is the mother of 30-year-old twins Ryan and Nika and 26-year-old Kyle. Kyle lives here and attends Shoreline with his fiance Marivel and her two little boys, Ethan and Joshua.

Nancy and Steve have been married for 17 years and live in Carmel Valley.

Heather Daugherty Women's Ministry Director's Admin

Heather was born and raised in Hollywood CA, and moved to the Monterey area in July 2011. Her passion to serve God and to be of service to others is what led her to Shoreline Community Church in September 2011. Heather serves as the assistant to Women’s Ministry Director, Kim McDonald, Strategic Leadership Development Director, Sherry Harney and Operations Pastor, Keith Krueger.

Heather is a volunteer for several ministries including the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team, the Benevolence and Hope Team, and as a Women’s Bible Study facilitator.  Heather’s focus for over 28 years has been mentoring women who are suffering from alcoholism and addiction.

Heather has worn many hats in her professional career. For the past 17 years, her roles have been in company management, being the executive assistant to various CEO’s and presidents, project coordinating, and working as an associate producer in the entertainment industry.

Paul Davis Video Intern

Paul Davis has been serving as an intern in the video ministry at shoreline since January of 2013. He accepted Christ into his heart at the age of 15 and has been growing though Him every step of the way. He is passionate about his family, friends, film, and art. Above all things, Paul wants to use his gifts and abilities to glorify God.

Angela Falge Preschool Teacher's Assistant Preschool

Angela is a teacher’s assistant on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for our 4’s Class, at the Toro Park site.  Angela has worked as a teacher’s assistant at the Toro Park site since 2012. Angela moved with her husband Danny and their three children Chelsey, Skylar, and Lindsay to the Carmel area in 2009 from Ely, Nevada. She was a Middle School Special Education Assistant before relocating.  She has been a member of Shoreline Community Church since 2010. She and her daughters volunteer in the Children’s Ministry programs.  Angela volunteers in The Angel Tree ministry and has been part of the Women to Women Ministry. She loves the families and amazing children she gets to work with each day, and loves being a part of the Shoreline Community. She is excited to see how God will work through her in the months and years ahead.  Angela loves photography, scrapbooking, reading, cooking and hanging out with family and friends.

As Shoreline’s community outreach director, Deb “connects the dots” between the needs of our surrounding community and the capabilities of our church body. Debra loves that God has given her what she considers “her dream job.” The ultimate goal of community outreach is to help the people of our community realize they have a hope and a future in Jesus Christ. Debra has attended Shoreline Community Church since 1996 and has a passion for serving God, family, and the community. She believes in putting God’s love in action and taking the church outside of its walls. With the help of her fellow Shoreline parishioners, she aspires to reach the lost and needy through acts of service, kindness, and compassion in the local community. Debra has strong ties to the Monterey Peninsula. She was raised in Monterey, and has worked for several school systems and for the City of Monterey’s Park and Recreation Commission. Debra is married to David Federico. She has three adult children, Jennifer Brinker (Jon), Stephen Mercurio, Jr., and Jason Mercurio; and two-step children, Liana Deveso (Russell) and David Federico Jr. Debra enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, exercising, and visiting her four grand-girls, Georgia Rose, Samantha Rae, Lilly Rose, and Rylie Noel.

Margaret Garibay Shoreline Preschool Director - Toro Park

Our Preschool Director, Margaret Garibay, joined the Shoreline team in 2008 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the preschool site located in the Toro Park Center. After receiving a bachelor of science degree in Early Childhood Education from Fresno State, she moved to the south county area to teach in the public elementary schools. She and her husband, George, married in 1993 and spend their time raising their five children.  Their children’s interests and activities, have provided them with opportunities to lead and inspire community service projects, work with the poor in Tijuana and Peru, raise pigs, and hang out in the hills with the local high school Mountain Bike Race Teams.

As outreach pastor, Tom infuses outreach focus into every ministry at Shoreline. He has experience in church planting, has led high school ministry, and was a Shoreline young adults pastor. In his 13 years at Shoreline, he has served as missions chairman, small group coordinator, and member of Shoreline’s leadership team. In addition to pastoring, Tom runs a successful construction business. He and his wife Jill have been married for 35 years and have sought to bring the love of Jesus to many parts of the world including Africa, India, Mexico and the Republic of Georgia. Their two children Robby and Rebekah have joined them in missions, and the whole family enjoys mountain biking, motocross, and just being together.

Lisa Marie Griggs Church Information Systems Coordinator

Born and raised in southern California, Lisa Marie has called Monterey home since 2005. She and her husband, Ken, connected with Shoreline their first year here, and have plugged into rich community through a married’s small group, a parenting small group and currently a growth group. Lisa has loved growing in the Word and building women up through MOPS, Wednesday morning Women’s Bible Studies and the Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry. She and Ken enjoy raising (and being continually entertained by) their two young daughters, Viviana and Angelina. Their favorite activities are strolling in downtown areas exploring shops and parks during day trips, and traveling (preferably to warm weather). Lisa Marie is excited to be part of Shoreline’s staff, and supporting more people falling in love with Jesus.

Carlie Hainline Students Ministries Administrative Assistant

Carlie Hainline serves as our Student Ministries Admin and High School Ministries Intern, planning weekly small groups, Sunday high school services, and various events. Carlie wants to go into full time ministry, and is studying to get her teaching degree at MPC. She is originally from San Diego, and joined the Shoreline family in January 2013.

Kevin Harney serves as the lead pastor at Shoreline Community Church and is responsible for preaching, visionary leadership, and the development of our church’s focus on Organic Outreach. Kevin is a native Californian who grew up in Orange County. Through writing and speaking, he and his wife Sherry love to serve the local church as well as churches around the nation and the world. They have published numerous books, small group guides, and curriculum resources. Kevin’s most recent books are Reckless Faith and Organic Outreach for Families: Turning Your Home into a Lighthouse.  He has written many other books and resources that can be found on his website at: kevingharney.com. Kevin and Sherry have been married for 29 years. They have three adult sons: Zach, Josh, and Nate. Kevin is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University (B.A.), Fuller Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and Western Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry). In warm weather he loves to unwind by walking a golf course with friends. When he can get near snow and a decent hill, Kevin loves to snowboard.

Sherry Harney Volunteer - Women’s Ministry Director

Sherry Harney volunteers as the Strategic Leadership Development Director at Shoreline Community Church. Her primary responsibility is to train and coach church leaders (as assigned by the Management Team) to fully maximize their gifts and calling at Shoreline Church. She also fulfills other strategic leadership functions at the request of the Management Team.

Sherry was born and raised in Holland, Michigan.  She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in education and special education. Sherry received a Masters of Theology with an emphasis in Christian Formation and Discipleship from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is married to Kevin Harney.  She speaks for local, national, and international women’s groups and events.  In addition, she has a writing ministry in partnership with Zondervan, Baker, and Thomas Nelson Publishing. Sherry has written or co-written several small group study guides with an assortment of pastors and authors and has co-authored two books with her husband, Kevin (SherryHarney.com).  Kevin and Sherry have three adult sons, Zach, Josh, and Nate who bring great joy to their lives and are all presently involved in ministry at some level.  Sherry loves to hike, ski, read, cook and spend time with family and friends.

Zach Harney Adult Spiritual Development Director

Zach is the Young Adult Ministries Coordinator at Shoreline. He is responsible for leading worship for the young adult ministry. In the past, Zach has been involved with his church’s leadership team, led worship at multiple churches, and been involved with student ministry through youth groups and camping ministries for many years. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a undergraduate degree in education, and is currently pursuing a master’s in divinity at Fuller Seminary. To love God and love people are his ultimate goals. This love can be shown through a persistent pursuit of God through His word, and a goal of showing God’s unfailing mercies to all people without condition through service. For now he is moving back in with his parents, whom he loves and respects more than anyone alive, but he hopes to regain the lofty goal of independence in the near future. He has two brothers that he is unwaveringly proud of, and he loves them more than they even know. In his free time he likes listening to and playing various types of music, hiking and climbing outdoors, reading all kinds of literature, and continuing to learn and study.

John and his family visited Shoreline Community Church for the first time in the Fall of 2006. They were immediately attracted to the warm, welcoming environment, great worship sessions and inspiring Bible based messages. After a few weeks of visiting and interacting with a loving church body, the Houseman’s decided to join Shoreline and began to volunteer in various ministries. John has volunteered in Shoreline’s Children’s Ministry, Community Outreach Ministry, Junior High Ministry, Men’s Ministry, High School Ministry and Global Outreach Ministry.

In 2009, while employed full time in the Monterey Bay area outside of the church, John was offered the position of Director of Global Outreach – an unpaid staff position. In that role, he has led and participated in mission trips to share the love of Christ in Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Kenya, South Sudan and the Philippines. Then, in 2012, John was hired as a FT pastor. He is currently serving as Shoreline’s Care Pastor. In that role, he works with a team of volunteers to serve people and/or their families who are in the hospital, in hospice care or at home due to medical conditions.  He also manages and executes Celebration of Life/Memorial services for the church.  In addition to the Care Ministry, John continue to oversee the Global Outreach Ministry and also directs the First Impressions Ministry (Parking, Greeters, Hopitality, Ushers and Sign Language teams).

When not working on the Shoreline campus, visiting with the hospitalized or home bound, leading a missions trip or hanging out with his family, John can be found mountain biking, swimming, running, kayaking, road biking, at the gym or training for an upcoming event. John is married to his beautiful wife, Shelly and they have been blessed with three wonderful children – Austin, Connor and Madyson.

Ben lives in Marina with his wife and 3 children. He has a background in Audio Recording receiving an education from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in AZ. He is currently perusing a Bachelors in Electronic Engineering Technology from Devry. Following an internship at The Plant Studios in Sausalito CA, Ben was called down to Monterey to serve on staff at Shoreline where his duties expanded to include all of the audio and visual teams on Sunday mornings. Ben leads the Shoreline Production Team which serves Shoreline by supporting the Churches mission with any A/V support needed; the team also captures and processes the Message from Sunday morning and provides on-demand access on the web. Howie Hugo Founding Pastor Pastor

Pastor Howie knows what it is like on both sides of the pulpit, and brings a unique blend of business and ministry experience to Shoreline. Prior to Shoreline, for 14 years, he had maintained a dual career both speaking at churches and Christian conferences, and building a successful real estate brokerage and development business. Before real estate, Howie served on several pastoral staffs and directed the largest Campus Life ministry in the nation. He is a California native, earned a B.A. degree at Santa Clara University, and has also attended both Western Conservative Baptist and Talbot Seminaries. He was ordained in 1979. Howie and his wife Linda have been married for over 28 years and have seven children and one grandchild: Jenny and Kenny Hogan, Thomas and Shannon Hugo, Monica and Mike Schweene, Heather and Tyler Ruddock with baby Ryland, Katie, Jonathan and David.

Daniel Killough Middle School Coordinator

Danny has lived in Monterey since he was 10 years old, moving here after his father retired from serving the US Navy. He gave his life to Christ when he was 17 years old while attending a summer camp trip that Shoreline’s High School Ministry took him on. Since then Danny has developed a passion for sharing God’s word and a heart for serving in youth ministry. He was hired on at Shoreline in January of 2009 and is so thankful that God has given him the opportunity to serve in church ministry. Danny leads a team of volunteers that share his passions for serving God and pouring into the lives of middle school students. He also spends a lot of time preparing messages from the bible, planning/leading events, coordinating services/mid-week programs and developing relationships with students and their families. Danny also has a heart for global missions and serves as Co-Leader for Shoreline’s Mexico Missions Trips. Some hobbies that Danny enjoys are skateboarding, riding his bike and hiking.

Nancy Koontz Bookkeeper

Nancy Koontz is the church bookkeeper. She processes all monies going in and out of the church, balances the books, and creates reports for the ministry heads and the leadership team. Nancy and her family have been attending Shoreline Church since 1997. She quickly started volunteering with the tape ministry and then did volunteer  bookkeeping for then missions pastor Craig Ludrick.  This led to her being hired at Shoreline in November of 2000  and she has been the church bookkeeper since then. Before coming to Shoreline, Nancy worked in a bank for two years and was bookkeeper for a chiropractic office for four years. Nancy lives mid-Carmel Valley with her husband of 26 years, Alan. Using the yours, mine, and ours formula, they have six children: Jason, Daniel, Joseph, Megan, Samantha, and Grant.  They also have two Grandchildren,  Hank and Winnie.

Keith Krueger Operations Pastor Pastor

As Operations Pastor, Keith is primarily responsible for managing Shoreline’s finances and facilities. These responsibilities include safety, security, and upkeep of our church building and grounds.  He also oversees preschool operations at our two sites and human resource systems, including payroll and benefits. Keith began with us as our middle school director, moved on to student ministries pastor before becoming our Operations Pastor. He received his B.S. in Finance from San Jose State and his Masters in Church Leadership from Liberty University. Keith feels blessed to be a part of what God is doing in and through Shoreline. Keith lives with his bride Shannon, and three daughters, Hannah, Alexandra, and Elliyah.

Jeanette is the Nursery Coordinator and has attended Shoreline Community Church since 1997. She has been involved in Children’s Ministry for over 40 years. Growing up in Edwardsville, IL, Jeanette was involved in her church’s bus ministry as a teen and has continued to serve children in many capacities since that time. In 1980 she graduated from Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, TX, married her husband, Vince, and moved to Monterey.

She lives in Carmel Valley and has 5 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Christine Church, Natalie (Antonio) Morales, Jana (Gabe) Kaster, Matthew Liguori and Caitlin Liguori.  Grandchildren: Debbie Church, Tim Church, Siena Liguori-Colson, Josiah Morales.

Cole Lovelace Young Adults Coordinator

Cole oversees Shoreline’s Young Adult Program. With his team of volunteers, he leads a service designed for 18-25 year olds seeking spiritual fulfillment through fellowship and worship. He constantly seeks new and fresh ways to create community among this age group all over the peninsula. Growing up in San Diego, Cole has been playing and leading worship since 6th grade, and has since heard his calling to do whatever possible to aid people in worship through music and art. During Cole’s spare time, he love anything outdoors: camping, fishing, hiking and backpacking.

Kim McDonald Women's Ministry Director

Kim McDonald is the Women’s Ministry Director for Shoreline Community Church.  She is responsible for giving leadership and vision to the Women’s Leadership Team.  Kim serves these women as they each use their gifts to lead their teams in each ministry area.   Kim began attending Shoreline Community Church in 2002.  She has been a part of the Women’s Leadership Team serving as the leader of Women’s Bible Study. She also enjoys serving as a Sunday morning usher.  After graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in Business in 1990 she moved to Salinas where she married her husband Mike.  They have two adult children:  Ashley Thompson, Son-in-law Garner Thompson and Zach McDonald.  Kim enjoys hiking, reading, cooking, walking her dog and kickboxing.

Dennis McFadden Executive Pastor Pastor

As Executive Pastor, Dennis McFadden works closely with the Lead Pastor in vision and strategic development. He serves in the personnel side of HR as the chief of staff, focusing on their well being, healthy functioning and positive person to person interactions. In addition he oversees Men’s Ministry and teaches Men’s Bible Studies weekly. Dennis is a licensed marriage and family therapist  32 years of clinical experience. Prior to joining Shoreline, Dennis was in private practice at Community Christian Counseling of Pleasanton for over 13 years. He has taught and trained staffs and audiences in a wide variety of churches throughout central and northern California since 1981. His experience also includes more than twelve years in program management and administration of human service programs, including mental health, drug, and alcohol programs in three California counties and two states.

Kathy is the lead teacher for the 3′s class at Shoreline Preschool in Monterey. Kathy previously worked at the Toro Park Center sight as a teachers assistant for the 3′s and 4′s class. She has a B.S. in Liberal Studies from CSU Fresno and has enjoyed working with preschool children for the last five years. Kathy and her husband moved to the Salinas Valley in 1995 and have been married for over sixteen years. Kathy and her husband have been blessed with two, wonderful children and enjoy spending time with friends and family.

Jillian serves as the Spiritual Development Admin. Her desire to serve God and her love for people are what called her to work in ministry. Jillian has been attending Shoreline since 2006 and has been on staff since 2010. Jillian and her husband, Stephen, married in October 2010. They had their first child, Ella, in December 2012, and they are expecting their second child, Miles, in May 2014. They love their life together and their new roles as parents!

Dave Phillips Connections Pastor Pastor

Dave Phillips is responsible for connecting people with God throughout the body of Christ here at Shoreline. Dave has served churches in a variety of positions around the world during his tenure in the military. Ordained as a Presbyterian Elder ages ago he’s become actively involved in non-denominational Christian churches since 2002 where he’s served as Middle School Pastor, Director for Contemporary Worship, Worship Leader and various leadership positions all focused on ministering to the body of Christ and reaching out to those who have yet to accept His grace. Dave and his amazing wife Zoë Hale celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2013. Together they have four daughters: Miranda, Katrina, Alyssa and Cynthia.

A product of Bethany College and Global University, he is also a veteran Awana commander, Rorheim Institute trainer, Certified Church Consultant, and Charter Member of The Society for Church Consulting. Roy is committed to growing healthy families through strong church-family partnerships, and providing a fun, safe atmosphere where children can grow in the grace of God. A Monterey native, Roy married his wife Barb in 1974. Roy and Barb have successfully survived the raising and launching of their three children; Cory, Robin and Stacy, and are relishing the role of grandparents for Crystal Catherine, Naomi Grace, Samuel Allen, James Allen and Marian Carol. Roy can occasionally be spotted cycling around the Monterey area.

Terri Reeves Ministry Assistant

Terri joined the Shoreline staff in 2014 as the Ministry Assistant to Pastor Ben Spangler, Pastor of Ministry Development. She began attending Shoreline in 1995, when the average weekly attendance was around 50 people. .  Over the years, she has enjoyed watching Shoreline grow and be used by God to impact so many lives. Terri has volunteered in many areas of the church including the leadership team, children’s ministry, women’s ministry and MOPS.  She is excited to now be working in ministry development and enjoys watching God continue to use Shoreline Community Church to reach people for Christ. Terri has been married to her wonderful husband, Mike, since 1990 and is blessed with two great children, Jeff and Kelly.

Romel holds a BA in speech communication and English, has helped manage a bookstore, taught special ed, and served as a librarian at Alisal High School before joining the Shoreline staff in 2005. Romel has been attending Shoreline since 1999, and loves working with the Shoreline team. She has a genuine compassion and servant’s heart for all who need a little help. Romel is married to Jonathan, and they have three adorable boys, Christian, and twins Joshua and Caleb.

Monica is a teacher’s assistant on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our 3′s class on the Shoreline Church campus.  Monica has worked as a teacher’s assistant in preschool programs in Seaside and Monterey for 4 years. She has been a member of Calvary Chapel for 15 years where she spent 8 years volunteering in children’s ministry programs.  Monica has been married to Alex for 21 years. Her husband serves in the Coast Guard who stationed him in Monterey in 1997.  They have two amazing and talented children Matthew and Madison.

Jonathan is Shoreline’s worship leader, and continues to develop the creative and logistical vision for the Music Ministry. He works alongside Shoreline’s talented teams of volunteer musicians, to prepare and present authentic and powerful congregational worship times, and has a passion for using music to reach people both inside and outside the church. A native of central California, Jonathan has been involved with various worship teams for over a decade. He has had the privilege of playing music throughout the country, and studied Music and Biblical Studies at Southeastern University and Liberty University. Jonathan is currently working on his M.A. in Theological Studies, and his continued goal is to help people of all ages and background connect with God through relevant expressions of art and music. In his spare time, he loves cooking, painting, and songwriting. Jonathan lives in Monterey with his wife Bethany.

Thomas Ryan serves as Shoreline’s Video Director, leading the video ministry with a team of volunteer leaders and crew. Shoreline takes media seriously, and values video as an art and medium to further worship God and relay hope to a creatively conscious world. Thomas lives in Seaside with his wife Megan and their 0 children. If Thomas and Megan did have children, perhaps their names would be Kirby, Knuckleblade, and Merriam-Webster. When not in his role leading the Video Ministry or with his wife, Thomas loves reading, philosophy, video games, coffee snobbery, music, thinking about Japan, good conversation with friends, being alone, and thinking more about Japan. He’s been alive approx. 26 years, and has loved at least half of them—probably more like 60-70% of them.

Cristina Sierra-Mundo is a director and teacher at the Shoreline Preschool in Monterey. She has taught and coordinated programs for preschool age children since 2002. Cristina’s children’s ministry experience includes serving as children’s church coordinator/ teacher at Emmanuel COGIC in Seaside, as well as serving in Sunday School and mid week children’s programs at Shoreline Community Church. She has been a Director/Teacher at Shoreline Preschool in Monterey when the program launched in Fall 2008. She and her family volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship in outreach ministries for elementary-age children for nine years.

Ben Spangler works with Developing Ministries at Shoreline.  He has spent most of his life in a darkroom with the eerie glow of a computer.  Ben’s first position in a church was his senior year of High School when he coordinated a summer program for 4-6th graders.  That same year he also worked in a computer store repairing machines.  Since that time he has had two simultaneous careers in technology and ministry.  Ben loves to learn and help others to fulfill a calling and passion in ministry.  He has worked at Shoreline since 2003 when we moved into a circus tent.   Ben thrives in the innovative environment at Shoreline. He lives in Monterey with his wife Lacy and kids, Ian, Kaiya, Elyse, and Juliette.

Cady Tibbs Events Coordinator Ministry Development

Cady joined the Shoreline staff in 2013 as part of the Ministry Development team.  She is a native of WIchita, Kansas and brings several years of ministry experience. In 2005, 1 month after getting her degree in Health & Physical Education from Tabor College, she packed up the car and headed out to California to marry her best friend. Cady and Nate landed at Shoreline in February 2011 and immediately felt a strong sense of authentic community; it was home away from home.

Nate Tibbs Student Ministries Pastor

Nate serves as our high school pastor. He has 12 years of youth ministry experience, and has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology, with a minor in biblical counseling. Nate and his wife Cady were married in July 2005 and joined the Shoreline family in March 2011. They have an incredible story of how God brought them together in Jamaica, even though Nate is a native of San Diego and Cady was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. They both enjoy all forms of athletic competition; however, Cady is much better at basketball.

As music director, John Wineglass works with the worship leader to bring glory to God through music throughout the church. A native Washingtonian, John Wineglass has performed in several orchestras and chamber ensembles both in the U.S. and abroad, performing his first viola concerto with the DC Youth Orchestra in 1984 at 11 years old. John has achieved numerous music accreditations, as well as three Emmy® Awards with seven nominations to date, and he has performed with many Grammy®-Award winning artists. His musical prowess and his passion for music have afforded him opportunities to perform on five continents and before every president since Ronald Reagan. John is a graduate of The American University (B.M.) and holds a master’s degree in Music Composition from New York University, studying with Justin Dello-Joio of the Julliard School. John coordinates our worship sets as well, and you will catch him onstage most Sunday mornings playing the keyboard, organ, violin, and occasionally even the accordion. His wife Denise is also a talented worship musician. John and Denise live on the Peninsula with their daughter Abbey.

Steve is responsible for helping develop the military multi-site vision, recruiting and training leaders for this ministry, and acting as the liaison and primary contact person with all multi-sites and their leaders. Steve is a retired U.S. Army Chaplain who was active duty for 25 years, first as an enlisted soldier then later as a chaplain. Steve was ordained in 1983. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Central Bible College, a Master of Divinity at the AG Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts at Wheaton College. Steve also works at the U.S. Army Garrison, Presidio of Monterey, as the Chief of Plans, Analysis, and Integration. Steve and Anne have been married for 30 years. They have three adult children: Robert and Danielle Povelones, Matthew Young and Chelsea Young. They also have a one-year old grandson, Ethan. Steve loves to golf, play racquetball and other sports, and go on morning walks with Anne.

Jay serves in the ministry development area of Shoreline, helping in the creation and execution of new and enhanced mission/ministry strategies and initiatives to support the mission of Shoreline.  Jay has been blessed by having been able to serve in many ways at multiple churches.  He served on the boards of 3 different churches in different leadership positions.  Jay led various teams including a Long Range Planning Team, a Senior Pastor Transition Team, and work teams in “Beyond the Walls” outreach events.  Jay also served in strategic planning and leadership roles for the regional denomination level organization.  Jay spent his career as a senior manager in the computer systems industry.  He has also provided business transformation consulting services and led conflict resolution processes for various organizations.  Jay earned engineering degrees from Calvin College and University of Michigan, and his MS degree from the University of Minnesota.  Jay and his wife Lynn have been married over 21 years and live in Monterey.  Between them, they have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.  In his free time, Jay enjoys hiking, golf, kayaking, and doing projects in his workshop.

Lynn serves in the area of ministry development, with a goal of helping to create more ministry capacity by improving efficiencies in Shoreline’s many processes, such as those related to church information solutions, launching new ministries, and to equipping ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers. Lynn was a computer software and services entrepreneur for many years. She also has had the joy and privilege of serving in and leading in many different areas of ministry prior to coming to Shoreline in 2010:  community outreach, inter-cultural missions, computer technology/information management, divorce recovery, organizational and leadership development, and major event planning. Lynn led Missions and Outreach ministries as a volunteer leader at a San Jose Church for a number of years before joining that church’s senior pastoral staff team as its Executive Director of Ministries.  Lynn’s and her husband Jay were married in 1990 forming a blended family which now includes 6 grandchildren in addition to Lynn’s son and Jay’s son and daughter.  Her hobbies include golf, plein-air painting, hiking, and kayaking

Jeanette is the Nursery Coordinator and has attended Shoreline Community Church since 1997. She has been involved in Children’s Ministry for over 40 years. Growing up in Edwardsville, IL, Jeanette was involved in her church’s bus ministry as a teen and has continued to serve children in many capacities since that time. In 1980 she graduated from Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, TX, married her husband, Vince, and moved to Monterey.

She lives in Carmel Valley and has 5 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Christine Church, Natalie (Antonio) Morales, Jana (Gabe) Kaster, Matthew Liguori and Caitlin Liguori.  Grandchildren: Debbie Church, Tim Church, Siena Liguori-Colson, Josiah Morales.
