Romel Retzlaff
After serving in several other areas of the church, Romel Retzlaff now assists Pastor Kevin as his right hand and serves as the brain’s third lobe for Ben Spangler, our pastor of ministry development. Romel holds a BA in speech communication and English, has taught special ed for three years, and has served as a librarian for three years at Alisal High School. She has been attending Shoreline since 1999, and loves working with the Shoreline team. She has a genuine compassion and servant’s heart for all who need a little help. Romel is married to Jonathan, and they have three adorable little boys, Christian, and twins Joshua and Caleb.

Jillian Medina
Jillian serves on the community life and growth team. Her desire to serve God and her love for people are what called her to work in ministry. She wants to help people connect to the church, and does so by placing people in ministries that will further their spiritual growth. Additionally, bible studies, small groups and genuine fellowship have been very important in her own spiritual growth, and have helped deepen her relationship with God; in turn, her passion is to help others further and strengthen their own walk with Christ. Jillian has been attending Shoreline since 2006 and has been volunteering with our high school ministry for about four years. She absolutely loves her high school students. Seeing them learn more about who God is and who they are in Him brings her so much joy. It was through a mutual love of the youth that she and her husband initially met. After dating for a couple years, they married in October 2010. They are loving their life together. They enjoy spending time with their wonderful family and friends, and as big hockey fans, they sneak up to watch the San Jose Sharks as much as they possibly can.

Jeanette Ligouri
Jeanette is the nursery coordinator and has attended Shoreline Community Church since 1997. She has been involved in children’s ministry for over 40 years. Growing up in Edwardsville, IL, Jeanette was involved in her church’s bus ministry as a teen, and she has continued to serve children in many capacities since then. She attended Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, TX, where she met Vince, her husband of 30 years. Jeanette and Vince live in Carmel Valley and have five children, Christine, Natalie, Jana, Matt, and Caitlin; and three grandchildren, Debbie, Tim and Siena.
Ilene Cashman
Ilene coordinates all childcare for our many events at Shoreline Community Church and has for the past six years. Ilene has been attending Shoreline since they were at Pacific Grove High School. Ilene’s first love has always been children working as a Recreational Therapist with special needs children. This experience has helped at Shoreline with our new program “Dive Buddies”, a one on one program with special needs children. Ilene’s hope is to bring all children to know the Lord. Ilene has been doing volunteer work since the late 1970’s and started with volunteering with children at Shoreline 7 years ago. Ilene spent 20 years as a Radio Journalist holding a number of management positions which has helped in her position at Shoreline to find the best childcare givers possible. Ilene has one daughter Lindsey and son-in-law, Christian.

Nikki Belanger
Nikki Belanger is the ministry coordinator for our three-year-old through first-grade classes. As ministry coordinator, Nikki gets to know the Sunday School volunteers, schedules them for Sunday mornings, prays for them, and keeps them connected with Pastor Roy and the rest of the Anchor Bay crew. Nikki is originally from Pennsylvania. She came to love Jesus at the age of five, and has a heart for kids everywhere to know about Jesus. She has spent a summer with Teen Mania Missions and a summer with Kingdomworks, a mission serving kids in inner-city Philadelphia. She has also worked a few years at Hackman's Bible Bookstore and Kids Co-op, Inc. in Pennsylvania. Nikki is married to Richard Belanger and they have five kids: Megan, Emily, Elisabeth, Matthew, and Amy Rae.
Daniel Killough
Daniel Killough serves as one of our middle school ministry's interns, leading games and small groups on Wednesday nights and planning monthly events for the students. Daniel has a passion to see students come into a loving relationship with Jesus early in life and continue to grow as believers. For years, he has been actively involved in Shoreline's youth ministry, both as a student and a volunteer. After graduating from Monterey High School, Daniel began his undergraduate degree in graphic design at MPC, and began volunteering in the middle school program. He now works part-time with our middle school students, helps in both the high school and college ministries, and volunteers in the communications department, designing digital signage and banners for the main services.

Jenn Colijn
Jenn Colijn serves as one of our student ministry's interns, leading worship for middle school and high school services, as well as for middle school small groups. Jenn has attended Shoreline Community Church since the first grade, and she became part of the Shoreline staff in June 2008. She volunteered in church while growing up, starting in children’s ministries and eventually moving up to middle school, where she discovered her passion for music. There, she served in the middle school worship band playing drums, and she was also perfectly fine hiding behind the cymbals. It wasn’t until her junior year of high school that she felt God’s calling to step up, and become the new middle school worship leader. A year later, she was invited on staff as a middle school intern, leading girls in small groups and fulfilling her musical passion of leading the youth in worship. Jenn currently lives in Salinas and is attending Monterey Peninsula College.

Cookie Choate
Cookie has been Shoreline's receptionist for 11 years. Cookie fields all calls and tends to all visitors coming into the office, and she helps Shoreline's various ministries as needed. She is also the assistant to the executive pastor, handling his day to day schedule. She has been a member of Shoreline for 13 years, and her time on staff has been instrumental in her spiritual growth and her walk with the Lord. Cookie and her husband Phil have been married 38 years. They have a son, Brad, daughter-in-law Amy, and two granddaughters, 10-year-old Kaylee and 7-year-old Kyndle, who are Cookie's and Phil's absolute joys!

Nancy Koontz
Nancy Koontz is the church bookkeeper. She processes all monies going in and out of the church, balances the books, and creates reports for the ministry heads and the leadership team. Nancy and her family have been attending Shoreline Church since 1997. She quickly started volunteering with the tape ministry and doing the books for then missions pastor Craig Ludrick, and she has remained the church bookkeeper for 10 years since then. Before coming to Shoreline, Nancy worked in a bank for two years and was bookkeeper for a chiropractic office for four years. Nancy lives mid-Carmel Valley with her husband of 22 years, Alan. Using the yours, mine, and ours formula, they have six children: Jason, Daniel, Joseph, Megan, Samantha, and Grant.

Nancy Cahalan
Nancy Cahalan is a licensed marriage and family therapist available for counseling services for Shoreline. Nancy is glad to assess your individual needs and will refer you to appropriate community resources. She is a native to the Monterey Peninsula, and her experience includes over 16 years of counseling couples, families, and individuals. Nancy and Steve have been married for 17 years and live in Carmel Valley.
Jill Piercy
Jill Shepherd Piercy manages the Shoreline Bookstore and owns a popular retail boutique in Carmel Valley called Sunriver. She has been a member of Shoreline since the PG days. Her passion for retail and her background in sales and marketing have given Jill the skills she needs to operate the bookstore. Her love for Christ is the center of her life, and working at Shoreline has given Jill a wonderful opportunity to both grow in her relationship with God and serve Him. Jill was raised in Carmel Valley. She now lives there with her two children, 10-year-old Janice and 7-year-old Jack.
Scott Curtis
Scott Curtis is responsible for the maintenance and beautification of our church facility. Scott is a California native, living in Monterey county for 30 years. Scott has been in the construction trade for 27 years. Scott is married to wife Lori a local Realtor Associate and has three daughters Courtney, Caitlyn and Payton. Scott loves the opportunity to use his skills to serve, by keeping the property maintained.

Erika Huey
Erika is a special projects coordinator for the production department. She is responsible for changing stage sets and for administering various projects throughout the church. Erika is a current graduate from California State University, Monterey Bay, where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She is currently living in Salinas with Ben, her husband since 2003, their two daughters Alice, Gwen and new son Freddie.

Rick Simek
Rick Simek works to keep our facilities clean and ready for our family on Sunday mornings, as well as our many groups, to come in and worship, study and generally enjoy our God and His Word. He enjoys volunteering and can be seen most likely anywhere he might be able to help. Hailing originally from New York, Rick and his parents resided in New Hampshire for some years. He decided to move out to the Monterey Peninsula area after visiting the area.
