We want to take this time to “THANK” all of you that participated in the International School of Monterey Clean Up Day this last Saturday, March 9th. Your heart to serve the Lord was an amazing thing to see and we so appreciated it! God certainly was with us on Saturday and this project was a great Organic Outreach!!!
We would like to share with you the email that we got from Lisa Griffin Burns the Operations & HR person at the school:
“Dear Debra and Andre -
It is just so rewarding when a plan comes to fruition successfully and that is exactly what happened on Saturday!
ISM owes the Shoreline Community Outreach ministry, generally, and each of you, specifically, as well as Sharon, Brad, and Scott, a huge debt of gratitude for your collective dedication and commitment to this weekend’s array of safety, beautification, gardening, and cleaning tasks here at the International School of Monterey. Our joint Saturday Work Day event was blessed with great weather, stellar organization and planning, and such friendly individuals keen on making a difference on our campus. It truly was a special day!
The timing of your outreach efforts was flawless as my colleague, Lisa Wichael-Loomis, and I had been grappling with how to complete urgent safety signage placement. In addition, International Garden Coordinator, Denise Wood, was also desiring to complete ongoing gardening projects in preparation for a grand opening event. Without the intervention and support of your church volunteers, we would not have been able to achieve these existing goals in such a timely and effective fashion.
Debra, it was a pleasure reconnecting with you on Saturday and learning more about the wonderful work Shoreline is doing throughout the Monterey Peninsula community! You truly are making a difference!
Andre, you are inspirational in the manner in which you dedicated countless hours to planning for this weekend’s event. Your organizational thoroughness was amazing and I so appreciated your reassuring, can-do approach. Your ability to assess our project needs, gather the needed manpower, supplies, and resources, and be fully prepared in less than a week’s time was quite remarkable. Thank you so much!
Please extend my thanks onward to Sharon, Brad, and Scott, for the pivotal roles they each played in this weekend’s event. We so appreciated their efforts and enjoyed working with each of them.
So, on behalf of ISM, our students and staff, Lisa, Denise, and I extend our warmest thanks to Shoreline Community Church for choosing ISM as an alternate park clean up project this weekend. ISM has a great community of parent volunteers, but our efforts this weekend would not have been achievable without your support. Bottom line!
Best regards and I look forward to working with you again in the future.
Lisa Griffin Burns”

Whether you are creative or not, join us for some family fun as we make Valentine Cards for our Military Troops, Cypress Ridge and Windsor Monterey Care Centers, Gateway Center and Park Lane. What we really want to do with the cards is to let the recipients know that not only does Jesus love them but we do too! We will meet in the Pacific Room (1108) at 9:30 a.m. on January 26th where we will start the day with prayer, bagels and donuts. Then on to creating the cards with a few games thrown in to our time together. Clean up and finish is slated for 12 p.m.
Then the real blessing for us is delivering the cards to Cypress Ridge and Windsor Monterey Care Centers on February 2nd from 9:45-11:30 a.m. (meet at Cypress Ridge 1501 Skyline Dr., Monterey). And then, on February 14th from 10-2 p.m. to Gateway Center and Park Lane. The joy on their faces as they see the beautiful cards and know that someone cares about them is absolutely priceless. If you have never had this experience you are missing out on what life is about!
