Men’s Ministries has plans for 2009

On February 9, 2009, in Men's Ministry, by Global Outreach

This year Men’s Ministries will be hosting a Saturday Conference for Men reaching out to the young men of  Shoreline. The Men’s Team leaders met, prayed, discussed and felt led to design a conference that helps men across age lines.  The Conference will feature a young, edgy plenary speaker then break out sessions. Two sessions in the works are: How to Use Tech in Your Walk. In this break out the young guns of hi-tech will teach the computer Dinosaurs (there’s a lot of us) how to do some simple stuff with our computers to enhance our life in Christ.  From internet searches to podcasts, to who knows what else, we need to access everything at our disposal as we grow in Christ.

Another session has the working title of : “Go Ahead, Sweat the Small Stuff”.  In this session Dennis McFadden, Pastor and Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist with over 28 years of counseling experience will share how certain small, seemingly insignificant behaviors and actions when taken early in young relationships and marriages, can save tremendous unnecessary pain and trouble later on. This will be great for the younger men in the congregation. We are wide open to ideas so give us a call.

Men’s Team wants to hear your ideas of what you would like to see happen for men at Shoreline so please feel free to let us know.

Grace and Peace, Pastor Dennis

Men are waiters too!

On November 10, 2008, in Men's Ministry, by Mens

The women of Shoreline and friends gather on December 1st for a glorious Christmas dinner and will be served by none other than the Men of Men’s Ministries! Yes, we can do two things at once: walk and carry plates. Come and witness this remarkable event! (the Women’s dinner, not men doing two things at once).

If you’re guy and want to help out, call Shoreline at 655-0100 and ask for Karen Hughes.

Blessings to all and stay cool during the Holiday build-up!

Men’s Stuff

On October 16, 2008, in Men's Ministry, by Mens

Men,

There are lots of activities at Shoreline that you can take part in. Go to Community Outreach on this website and check out the various events that men are involved in. The variety is such that there has to be something that fits YOU.

Why do we get involved in Bible studies?

It’s not to be a “better Christian”, or act properly or acquire bonus points with God. It’s because God has stuff he wants you to know about and internalize. When we internalize scripture we can draw on it in daily life; good times and tough.

There are a number of Bible studies happening each week and you’re welcome at any and all. Saturday mornings at 8:00 am guys meet in Room 7 at the church. Wednesday mornings you’re welcome at Hullaballoo restaurant for breakfast and fellowship at 7:30am. Tuesday mornings there is an Inductive study in Room 7 at Shoreline that is repeated on Wednesday mornings at 6:30am. We make the coffee, you bring a Bible. The last two studies are inductive; meaning we read the scripture together, break it down to it’s finest points then apply to our lives. The Leader does the homework in the commentaries and  other resources to make sure the cultural context is examined and the best intent of the verses are understood. All questions welcome, all men welcome. If you accepted Christ yesterday or have studied the Bible for years, please consider yourself invited to join us. The conversation is lively and all sessions end in needs being prayed for.

See you there!

Men’s Breakfast Barbecue a smash!

On October 1, 2008, in Men's Ministry, by Global Outreach

If you missed last Saturday’s Men’s breakfast you missed out on some of the finest steak west of Salinas! Chef Todd Fisher taught the guys how to grill the perfect steak while mixing in his own testimony of how God works in his life. Great chow, protein lovers ruled.
Don’t miss the next Men’s Breakfast on the last Saturday in October.

Youth v.s. Maturity

On September 2, 2008, in Men's Ministry, by Mens

Youth loves excitement, maturity relishes experience. Excitement without experience can lead to recklessness; experience without excitement can lead to stodginess. The recklessness of youthful “faith” impatiently strains against maturity’s “wisdom,” while maturity shakes its head at youthful exuberance. We may be temtped to think, “never the two shall meet.” Paul thought otherwise. 1 Timothy 4:12.
