Thank you to everyone for their help, from the painters to the gardeners, to the contractors, to the house cleaners, to the tile layers, to the electricians, to the plumbers. It was an amazing site to see everyone working together for God!

We will meet at The Carmel Beach at 13th Street at 8 p.m. There will be some acoustic worship and a brief message. If you want to bring blankets, food, etc., please do! It is not going to be a potluck, so just bring whatever you would like to have.

Because of a middle school event at the church, we will not be meeting there for carpooling purposes. So head straight on out to the beach!

Ben sits quietly behind the mixing console, behind the scenes of Shoreline’s Sunday service, as well as other events. He has worked at Shoreline for six years, and is our Technical Director and founder of the Shoreline Production Team. His job encompasses everything from sound to broadcast video, as well as everything in between. He is quite patient and a tad quirky. But most importantly, he strives for excellence and inspires his team to do the same.

Ben has a vast array of experience in his field. He interned at a recording studio after obtaining his education at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. Prior to all of this, he had mixed church audio since the 6th grade! While he was interning, Ben’s parents moved to the Peninsula and became members of Shoreline Community Church. They attended a new members dinner, where they began talking to Music Director, John Wineglass, and Pastor Ben Spangler. The Hueys mentioned their son’s experience in sound mixing, and  Ben Spangler invited Ben H. to come mix audio for Shoreline one Sunday. Ben H. was then asked to come back on subsequent Sundays, and eventually began to officially mix Shoreline’s music. And the rest is history!

Ben enjoys participating in worship in his own way. He loves to experience other people worshipping when the music, lights and sound all come together, the song crescendos, and arms are lifted high as people forget themselves and focus entirely on the Lord.

When asked what he would do if he could do anything with his life, without limitation, he stated that he would do just what he’s doing now…helping to bring others into the presence of God, be it in worship, reflection, service, or gathering together.

Ben finds encouragement in the following verse: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

Ben offers the following advice to anyone who may be considering volunteering for the Shoreline Production Team:

-It is easier than it looks.
-It is ok to make mistakes.
-We are all human–there is no way we can be exactly like Jesus because we aren’t    Him!

Personal Reflection: How do I bring unity and peace when I enter a group? What are ways that I create division and conflict in my relational world? How can I change these dangerous and unhealthy patterns?

Discussion: How did Solomon’s divided heart and home lead to a divided nation? How was nation of Israel damaged because of this division? How can similar divisions pop up in the church and what can we do to avoid them?

Prayer Direction: Pray for unity in your heart, life, home, and at Shoreline Community Church. Ask God to protect us from the poison of division.

“Live It!” Challenge: If you are experiencing division in a relationship in your life, contact this person as soon as you can and seek to meet and work toward healing and restoration.

Monthly Prayer Focus: This will be our final week focusing on listening to the Lord in prayer. Ask God, “Where do I have a divided heart or life?” Ask God to give you strength to seek unity in any broken relationship.
