Missions Trip to Guatemala | Feb 27 – Mar 9
January 14, 2010
Guatemala here we come! Missions Board Member John Houseman is leading a team of Shoreliners into Guatemala to continue the work on the Mayan school in the highland village of Pixabaj. Pastor Dennis will assist John and five other team members and there is room for a few more. This will be the sixth trip from Shoreline to Pixabaj, teams working with both the buildings and teaching in the Mayan children’s classrooms. The trip leaves February 27 and returns March 9, 2010.
The Mayan people are an oppressed population and extremely poor. The only chance the young people have to succeed is to acquire an education and learn Spanish. The school in Pixabaj is a Christian setting where these children learn Spanish, English, the 3 “Rs” and all about the love of Jesus. Shoreline partners with Outpost Ministries Director Carlos Nevarez in supporting the work God has led him to do in Guatemala. For more information contact John or Pastor Dennis
Missions update
October 22, 2009
For all who gave to fill the container bound for the Ivory Coast we say blessing and thank you. It’s finally there! When sending goods in a container to Africa the perils and obstacles are incredible as we learned on our very steep learning curve. Our mission coordinator, Patience Ogele is now there and is taking pictures to send back showing how the container and it’s contents are being used in her husbands church. Patience will live there from here on out, having finished her time of study in the US. We are excited about the goals for Missions in 2010 and will keep you posted. In the works are: trips to Guatemala, Mexico, Mission classes and training, a grand fundraising event and more! If you’re interested in Missions contact Pastor Dennis or Coordinator Phil Choate.

Mission to Costa Rica returns safe and on fire!
February 10, 2009
A group led by long time Shoreliner Maureen Morris traveled to the town of Tuis in Costa Rica to host a retreat for local Christian women who live there and attend a church the Morris family supports there. Nine ladies from Shoreline led worship, taught Bible curriculum preached the Word and treated the women there to a wonderful time of spiritual nourishment. All returned two weeks ago with story after story of lives impacted, friendships built and plans to partner with the women of Tuis in the future.
Ross Colijn, son of Martin and Lynn Colijn remains in Costa Rica serving as a youth leader in a church in a different area where he’ll stay the next 4 1/2 months.
Thanks for all of your prayers for the Ladies Mission and keep the prayers for Ross coming!
Shoreline Women off to Costa Rica!
January 14, 2009
Nine Shoreline women are traveling to a remote area of Costa Rica to take part in ministering to the women of the Voz Que Clama (”The voice that cries out”) Mission. Using an imaginative and fun program , they are utilizing prayer, Bible study, music, worship, teaching, laughter, tears and last but not least Chocolate, to spread the love of Christ.
Please pray for the in filling of the Holy Spirit, joy, health, safety, rest and renewal for all involved. Leaving January 20, they will return with amazing stories and experiences on January 28th.
Missions is Happening!
November 20, 2008
You may have noticed the large shipping container is gone from the back of the church. Praise God it is now resting in Oakland waiting for the first available boat to the Ivory Coast. As these things go it could take some time so please be in prayer for God to have his hand on this process.
On December 6 the Shoreline Guatemala team leaves for Pixabaj, Guatemala. Located in the Highlands far from any city, Pixabaj is at 8500 feet elevation and populated by starkly impoverished Mayan natives. Working in partnership with Out Post Ministries, this is Shoreline’s third trip to help build and equip the Christian school there. The Mayans must learn Spanish to have a chance at escaping the poverty that dominates their life. The school is Christ centered, teaches both Spanish and English to the children, who then go home to their village and teach the parents; the opposite of how teaching usually works! Children memorize Scripture, share Spanish and much more that they are learning with their parents which offers hope that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. Please be in prayer to support this team; we look forward to hearing their stories when they return on December 13th.
Guatemala Team on track
November 10, 2008
A scant three weeks away, the Guatemala trip is shaping up nicely. A team of eleven folks have attended missions classes, been briefed and met several times in preparation. In the village of Pixabaj they will continue to finish the construction on the school for Mayan children founded by Outpost Ministries director Carlos Nevarez and scout out the needs for the local church to receive support from future teams.
The container in back of Shoreline filled with donated goods headed towards a church in Ivory Coast will depart the premises in five days to be staged in Oakland before heading over sees. A team will meet up with the container next year to distribute goods, do construction on the church and train local Pastors. The full itinerary and mission goal are still in development; stay tuned for more info.

Missions Classes
September 29, 2008
Has God called you to become part of Missions? It’s a powerful call that changes the heart of the one called and those they serve.
Beginning October 12th there will be Missions Classes four weeks in a row at Shoreline, from 1:00 to 2:15pm. We will provide lunch, there will not be child care.
Come and hear what God says in his Word about spreading light and hope to the world. Jesus specifically commanded us to “go” and we will share in the class the many creative ways to fulfill his request. We don’t all have to go to Africa! Please join us; sign up in the lobby at the Connections Center.
