Helpful Resources
March 9, 2010
We usually post something about upcoming events or camps or new things going on here at C3. That being said, this week may seem a little different. If it’s not clear who writes these posts, it’s none other than C3’s Program Director, Stephen. I want to share with you(students, parents, members, and everything in between) three resources I have found around the web and internet that has totally blessed and strengthened my relationship with the Lord.
The first thing I want to show you is an amazing bible resource website. www.biblegateway.com . Bible Gateway has over 50 translations in over 20 languages. The best thing about Bible Gateway is it’s completely free. They have keyword searching, a topical index, and a handful of commentaries to accompany the scripture you are reading. I use Bible Gateway whenever I need cross references or insight into a verse, whether for a message or my own studies.
The next resource I want to direct you towards is podcasts. Wikipedia defines a podcast as a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and downloaded through web syndication. There are thousands of podcasts on all sorts of subjects, from politics to cooking recipes. What I have found is that a large amount of churches(including ours) started creating podcasts of their Sunday messages. I have found these very inspiring and useful to learn and see how other pastors and churches do church. One of my favorites are Francis Chan from Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley. Currently, they’re iTunes podcast is down, but here’s a link to their church website’s stream of messages. This is a great way to hear more than one message a week or to catch up on a message you might have missed from Pastor Kevin. There are some amazing speakers out there giving away their knowledge. I believe these podcasts have been well worth my time.
Finally, I want to draw your attention to blogs. Whether it’s a pastor or just a regular “joe shmo”, reading through other people’s ideas and thoughts on Christianity have helped and encouraged me to think through my faith and what I believe. Again, there are hundreds, if not thousands of these around the web. These just happen to be one that I have found useful. Jon Acuff is the creator and author of Stuff Christians Like. This is the description taken from the blog: “Does the stuff we like, ever get in the way of the God we love? That’s the question Stuff Christians Like is all about. Started on March 21, 2008 as a reaction to the wildly popular blog Stuff White People Like which was created by Christian Lander, Stuff Christians Like is a blog about the funny things we Christians do. And what they just might reveal about our faith.”. This blog is packed with hilarity and insight into the world of christians we all know(or might be). Reading not only Jon’s posts, but the replies and post of other people have given me insight into how other people see our world and our God.
Hopefully, if you made it through this whole post, you’ve found at least one thing helpful. If not, sorry about that. Check out this video. I hope that makes up for my incoherent ramblings.

Wildwood Discipleship Camp @ Hume Lake!
February 23, 2010
Wildwood is Hume Lake’s discipleship camp for students who wish to push themselves beyond the familiar into a world of exceptional devotion to God. Wildwood’s philosophy of stripping away the layers of falsehood and distraction is evidenced in daily interactions and candid discussions about student’s lives, struggles, and answering God’s call for deeper devotion to Him. Set in the back forests of Hume’s property, Wildwood emphasizes overcoming obstacles and learning to discipline oneself in response to the challenges of life.
We will be taking 10 students and 2 leaders up to Hume for a week that they will never forget! Camp is June 13-19, the week right before all of high school group heads to Ponderosa. The cost of camp is $330/camper, but in an effort to reduce cost out of pocket, we will be fund raising through various means.
If you would like more information about Hume Lake check out their website at www.humelake.org or contact Stephen Medina.
Hume Lake Sign Ups Now!
February 18, 2010
Summer camp 2010 is gearing up to be the best Summer yet! If you or your student has never been to Hume Lake Christian Camps let this be the year that changes everything! Here’s a little info directly from Hume’s website:
One of the many things we love about Hume Lake is the opportunity to get away from the busyness and distractions that young people face on a daily basis and have an incredible camp experience. When you come to Pondy, you will hear the gospel preached, be challenged through scripture, engage in sweet worship through music and get some time alone and with your church to process what God did in your life up here at camp. Hume Lake takes pride in its high energy recreation allowing kids to be kids. That includes things like playing in the mud, running the gauntlet, doing the bike jump, and dominating in Kajabe Kan Kan. If you allow it, a week at Ponderosa can and will change your life forever. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
Hume Lake is the best week of our Summer and we don’t want you to miss out!
To sign up, grab paper work on Sundays or Thursdays from Keith or Stephen.

Student Leadership Team Starting Up!
September 8, 2009
Shoreline’s High School Ministry is very proud and excited to start up the Student Leadership Team for the school year of 2009-2010. Student Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of students who are craving to dive deeper into their relationship with God. Through early morning bible studies to service projects around the community, the SLT is going to a year of growth and stretching for these students. Look for them every Sunday, serving in 2nd service at Shoreline, ushering and helping out in Children’s Ministry. These students have chosen to be held accountable in all areas of their lives and are looking for new ways to be challenged.
The SLT helps with C3 events and services with set up and tear down, flyers, production, and programing. We strive to give them every opportunity to impact their peers and people around them. The heart of the SLT is found in chapter 5 of the book of Matthew: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” We strongly encourage students to live as lights to the darkness that surrounds them, whether that is their schools, sports teams, home life, or jobs. Through the teaching, correcting, admonishing, encouraging and strengthening, the SLT has a deeper impact on our Youth Group and in turn our church and community.
The year is capped off with a trip to Hume Lake Christian Camps’ Discipleship Camp, Wildwood. Wildwood is for students who wish to push themselves beyond the familiar into a world of exceptional devotion to God. Wildwood is completely funded by our students’ own money, through fund raising, support letters, and jobs. We are so excited to start the year off right and change the lives of the students and world around us.
If you have any questions or want any more information about SLT or Wildwood, please contact Stephen Medina: smedina@shorelinechurch.org or 831.917.8765.
