Greetings Community Outreach friends!
It is now March and with the hope of sunshine in our hearts here is what the Lord has planned for us!
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
- A BIG THANK-YOU to everyone who came and helped out at the EL-Dorado Motel Clean-Up Day this last Saturday, February 26th! We were totally amazed at the outpouring of love, hard work and support from each of you that participated in making this day such a great event! It was a joy to have such a large group from many Shoreline ministries together. Both our Community Outreach Leaders and the residents at the Motel were so incredibly blessed by you all!
Check back next week for pictures from the event. - I-HELP
This particular night was a special night as we had a young man, Austin Myers, filming the evening for a documentary that he is doing for his school. There were some awesome testimonies given by the I-Help men. He was also filming everything from the clothes, shoes, etc. being set up for the men to take if needed to the kitchen preparing them their dinner. The documentary will be entered in a contest along with other documentaries about service projects, and if his documentary wins, the specific service project (in his case, I-HELP) will win a large sum of money to go towards their organization. Let’s pray for Austin as he goes about this process!
DONATIONS NEEDED
If every parishioner brought just one food item each Sunday what a difference we could make in our Food Pantry! Let’s see if we can make it a goal for this year. The Food Pantry is also in need of large paper bags with handles. Drop off any donations in the bins or at the booth on Sundays.
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND
→ Saturday March 5th
Monterey Pines Convalescent Home Visit – 9:30-11:30am
Come join us as we visit with the residents of the Monterey Pines Convalescent Home! We would love to have you join us in this great time of ministering to the residents there by having small worship service and great fellowship!
→ Sunday March 6th

If you are a woman of Shoreline with a heart for other women, come join us as we minister to the women of the Hamilton House through the sharing of food, fellowship and fun! If this is something you’d like to participate in, please let us know! Call the church or email mkoontz@shorelinchurch.org for more information or directions.
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH
Easter Egg, Candy, & Book Drive
Starting this Sunday, March 6th, we will be collecting plastic Easter eggs, small pieces of candy and children’s Christian Easter books (in English or Spanish) in order to help the migrant children in our community celebrate Easter! Drop off donations at the booth or the bins. Then, join us on April 9th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. as we prepare the donated items for delivery to the children. Questions? Contact Debra Federico at 831.655.0100 ext. 312 or dfederico@shorelinechurch.org.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT MONTH
Bags of Hope: available soon for purchase at the Community Outreach Booth!
Starting April 10th, the “Bags of Hope” that Kevin spoke about in January will be available for purchase on Sundays at Shoreline at the Community Outreach booth for $2 a bag. We are doing this so that people in our congregation will be given the opportunity of a great way to bless the homeless in our community. We have had many requests for this, and so we have found a way to make it happen, with many wonderful people working together to do so (including our very own Shoreline Junior Highers who stuffed the bags with the items and included wonderful handwritten notes of encouragement!).
Jim Clark has volunteered to be the organizer of this great project, and he is already putting together a team of people to sell the bags on Sunday mornings before, after, and in-between the services. If this interests you and you would like to serve in this way, please contact us at the church and let us know. Thank you!

Angel Tree – starting now through December 11th (delivery day)
Many children in Monterey county will be spending this Christmas at home, while their mother or father is in prison. These children may have witnessed things like homelessness, domestic violence, or even drug abuse. Although the parents may be in prison, their children suffer greatly as well. When Christmas comes around, Angel Tree reminds these children that they are very much loved.
Since its creation almost thirty years ago, Angel Tree has been providing Christmas gifts to children with incarcerated parents. First, the parents who want to be a part of the program sign up and write down the name and age of their child, as well as a gift their child wants. Churches who want to be a part of the program are then assigned the children and church members pick the child or children they want to provide the gift for and purchase that item. One week prior to Christmas, the gift is delivered to the children with a personal message from their parent included with it.
Shoreline Community Church has been teaming up with Angel Tree for a number of years. Right now, you can participate in this amazing ministry and bless both a parent in prison and a child this Christmas. Simply pick up an angel in the lobby and purchase the requested gift. You may choose to either deliver it yourself or let our volunteer team deliver the gifts, as we meet together on Saturday, December 11th, our delivery day. You may also sign up at the booth to be solely a delivery person rather than purchase the gifts. Gifts can be dropped off at the church until December 11th.
If you have any more questions about Angel Tree, please call the church, or check out the Angel Tree official website: http://www.angeltree.org/deliverlove
