Reading Plan for next week’s message

SundayMatthew 13
MondayHaggai 1-2
TuesdayMalachi 1-2
WednesdayMalachi 3-4
ThursdayLuke 9
Friday1 Kings 19
SaturdayLuke 14

Memorize/Reflect:  “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:3-6)

Prayer Direction:  Pray that you will live this very day, and the one that follows, as though it’s our last chance to make in impact with the love of Jesus in another’s life. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you power and boldness to live each day for the glory of Jesus. (Psalm 118:24)

“Live It!” Challenge: Say it!- Take time each morning to look at the interactions you’re going to have in the day. How can you impact them in a positive way? How can you share a glimpse of the character of Jesus, in an organic, natural manner? What do you think the people you will be with will remember about their encounter with you at the end of the day?

Small Group Discussion:

  1. Remembering past events, people and relationships can be powerful: from painful to productive. Tell about a strong memory you have (good or hard) because of a relationship in your life.
  2. Read: Proverbs 13:10  Often we have opportunities to gain wisdom by observing the lives of others. Discuss one person’s life that has affected you because they showed wisdom by really listening to others and humbly learning from the advice of others.
  3. Read: Deuteronomy 10:12  If you serve the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, how do you imagine it will affect those in your circle of influence- now and in the future?
  4. Read: Exodus 15:19-21 How do music, movies, photographs, places and seasons inspire memories in you? Share at least two of the more poignant ones.
  5. Read: Genesis 12:7 Have you ever marked a place, a moment in time, an interaction with someone to be certain you would remember? Why?
  6. In your Christian walk, be it brand new or over many years, what “memorials” trigger thoughts and feelings of your relationship with Jesus? Describe one that brings a smile.
  7. Read: Psalm 111:10 How could the “fear of the Lord” possibly be the beginning of wisdom?
  8. Share a Memorial service experience that deeply moved and touched you. What was it about that person’s life that impacted you?
  9. Talk about a Celebration of Life service you attended or heard about that had little or nothing to celebrate. How did it feel? What did you think?
