Outreach Update for 11.17.09

On November 17, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

COMheader0Community Outreach is as busy as ever with the holidays officially here. So far this week, we have made placemats for the Thanksgiving celebration at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, visited the women’s shelter, and donated over 450 boxes in support of Operation Christmas Child…and it’s only Tuesday!

KION-Branding0It’s time to clean out those pantries! Come out to Shoreline TOMORROW night, Wednesday November 18th, from 4-8 p.m. as local television station KION broadcasts live from our property at 2500 Garden Road in Monterey.  KION has chosen Shoreline as one of their hosts for the Holiday Harvest Food Drive. Please come by between 4 and 8 to drop off canned goods or a cash donation. Cash donations go very far. Just $10 can be stretched into $840 of food and that’s just the beginning!

November’s Shoreline Clean-Up Day, November 28th from 9 am-2pm, will be here before we know it.  Please consider dropping by to help us beautify the property and help get it ready for the Christmas season as we will have our work cut out for us.

If you have been affected by the recent economic downturn and are in need of food assistance, Shoreline’s Food Pantry is here to help.  The hours for this much-needed service have changed and are now 12:30-2:30 pm and 5:30-6 pm by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If you would like any information regarding these or any other opportunities to serve, please contact Deb Federico at dfederico@shorelinechurch.org or Megan Huff at mhuff@shorelinechurch.org at 831.655.0100 x338.

Outreach Update for 11.10.09

On November 10, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

COMheader0Outreach has been busy lately gearing up for the holidays. We have a lot going on around this time of year and we wanted to keep you up to date as to what’s going on and how you can jump in to this rewarding ministry.

THIS Saturday, November 14th from 10 a.m.-2p.m is November’s Serve Saturday. We will be making placemats for the Thanksgiving celebrations at the Monterey County Fairgrounds here at the church in the Fellowship Center.

Operation Christmas Child is going well and the deadline to turn in complete shoeboxes is THIS Sunday, November 15th.  Get creative and bless a child overseas by bringing back your shoebox.

This Sunday also marks our second visit to the women’s shelter.  Join us from 7-8:30 p.m. at the women’s shelter for a time of encouragement and fun with these women in transition. Stop by the Community Outreach booth to sign up and get directions to the women’s shelter.

Turkey0The season of giving is here and Shoreline is partnering with KION for their Holiday Harvest Food Drive. We are challenging all who hear about this food drive to donate 25 pounds of food either in the donation bins that are all around the church.  Another donation option is to bring your food by during KION’s live broadcast on Wednesday, November 18th from 4-8 p.m.

If you are interested in these or any other opportunities to serve, please contact Megan Huff or 831.655.0100 x338

10.26.09 Outreach Update

On October 27, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

COMheader0The holidays are officially here and Outreach is gearing up for a fantastic season of giving and sharing with not only our local community, but the world. We have a lot going on and wanted to let you know how YOU can get involved!

This weekend is full of fun and empowering events including Shoreline’s Halloween Family Festival, Shoreline Clean-Up Day and Women’s Shelter visit.

shorelinelogoBlackWEB0Shoreline Clean-Up Day is a vital part of the maintenance of our church and especially important around the holidays and after major events such as the Halloween Family Festival on Friday night. This month, Shoreline Clean-Up Day will be the day after the festival so we will have our work cut out for us. Please consider this opportunity to serve and, if you feel led, please join us from 9 a.m. to 2p.m. THIS Saturday, October 31st.

The food drive for the Monterey County Food Bank is still going on and we are looking for non-perishable and canned food. As an added bonus this year, local television station KION will be broadcasting LIVE from Shoreline on Wednesday, November 18th.  Please consider donation to this worthy cause and drop off your food either on Sundays or on November 18th during the broadcast.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities to serve, please contact Deb Federico or Megan Huff.

10.19.09 Outreach Update

On October 19, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

COMheader0It was a fantastic weekend for Outreach as we were present all over town at both the Monterey Pines Convalescent Home and the women’s shelter. We had such a great time hanging out with all of these deserving people.

We are in the midst of preparing for Shoreline’s Halloween Family Festival which takes place on Friday, October 30th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Come on out and join us for food, fun and music!  The day afterward, Outreach is hosting Shoreline Clean Up Day. Be sure and join us as we’re sure there will be plenty to do that day.

Food-Bank-Logo0Just as a reminder, Outreach is still holding a Food Drive for the Monterey County Food Bank. We are seeking donations in the form of non-perishable and canned foods. This is important because the Monterey County Food Bank’s shelves stock Shoreline’s own Food Pantry. Donation bins are in both lobbies of the church.

As we ramp up for the holidays, there are several events that Shoreline aligns itself with. Two of these are Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree. Be on the look out for information on getting involved in either or both of these worthwhile events coming your way soon!

If you are interested in these or any other opportunities to serve, please contact Deb Federico or Megan Huff.

Food Drive for Monterey County

On September 29, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Food-Bank-Logo0In today’s world, people are becoming more and more dependent on the resources around them. One of these resources is Shoreline’s own food pantry which helps feed about 50 people a month on average. This food pantry is stocked by the Food Bank of Monterey County who is in need of food donations from the surrounding community. Through the end of November, Community Outreach is holding a food drive to help our friends at the Food Bank of Monterey County so they can help us. They are in need of various items including powdered milk, canned/dried fruit, canned vegetables, beef stew and many more items. For a complete list of food needed and to donate, please go to the donation bins in the lobbies both downstairs and upstairs.
