Outreach Happenings for 9.22.09

On September 23, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Community Outreach Ministry is up to great things! We want to let you know all about it and how YOU can get involved!

First of all, THANK YOU to the volunteers who showed Christ’s love to the residents of the Monterey Pines Convalescent Home and the Women’s Crisis Center. These volunteers are such a blessing to the community at large.

Join Outreach THIS Saturday, September 26th as we beautify and landscape our own church to make it a pleasing place of worship to all who come here on Sunday mornings! This is a worthwhile event and greatly improves the experience of attendees and guests to the church.

Shoreline is partnering with the Panetta Institute for the Monterey County Reads program. This project connects volunteers who are willing and able to help local school children learn to read with the after school programs with these children in them. We are in the process of coordinating with the Panetta Institute so get in on this fantastic opportunity to impact the life of a local school child.

The economic downturn has affected everyone… especially those who don’t have consistent access to food. In light of this, we are holding a food drive for the Monterey County Food Bank. We are helping them specifically because their food goes to help supply Shoreline’s own food pantry. Please donate non-perishable food in the bins in both the lobby and upstairs.

As the holidays approach, Outreach becomes involved in may different activities. Two of the main activities Outreach supports are Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree. Both of these programs are not possible without willing and able volunteers to fill boxes, deliver gifts and do so much more.

If you are interested in these or other opportunities to serve, please call 655-0100 x338 or email Debra Federico at dfederico@shorelinechurch.org or Megan Huff at mhuff@shorelinechurch.org.
