“If it is to be, it’s up to me” Mayor Cory Booker (Global Leadership Summit)

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • Cypress Ridge and Windsor Monterey Care Center Visits, Saturday, August 20th 9:45-11:30 a.m.
    Join us at the Care Centers as we spread some love and the Word of God around. Help to make a residents day by giving them some attention and a smile! Meet in the parking lot of Cypress Ridge @ 9:45 a.m.
  • Women’s Shelter Visit, Sunday, August 21st 7-8:30 p.m.
    B-I-N-G-O Yes, it’s bingo night again at Hamilton House! Come join us as we share our love with the women and show them how to have fun. Who knows, you might win a prize. Yea!

HEART TO HOME – we are blessed with a ministry that helps women that are leaving the shelter or people in need, to set up their apartments with household items, beds, couches, kitchen tables/chairs, etc. We are pleased to announce that Jerelle Cockerham will be one of the Coordinators for this ministry. We are still looking for someone else with a heart like Jesus to help Jerelle coordinate this very worthwhile ministry. If you are interested in helping to coordinate, have a truck and could help move items, or would like to donate furniture or household items (must be in good condition), please contact Debra Federico at dfederico@shorelinechurch.org or 831.655.0100, x312.

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH:

  • Pasta with the Pastor’s (Salinas), Saturday, August 27th 5-7 p.m.
    The 19th Annual Benefit for I-Help will be held at Northminster Presbyterian
    Church, 315 Alvin Dr. This is an all you can eat event with silent auction. Our local clergy will serve the meals. Tickets are on sale at the Community Outreach Booth, $12 for adults and $5 for children under 10 years. Shoreline is being asked to make desserts for this event. If you would be able to help, please contact Sharon Burwell or call 831.655.0100, x302. Thank you!

WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT MONTH:

  • Triathlon at Pacific Grove, Friday, September 9th – Sunday, September 11th
    It is that time of year again when we get to serve at the Triathlon! If you would like to help in registration at this fun event, here are the times we need volunteers:
    Friday, September 9th 11:30 – 4 p.m. (9 volunteers)
    Saturday, September 10th 11:30 – 5 p.m. (13 volunteers)
    Sunday, September 11th 11:30 – 5 p.m. (9 volunteers)

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

  • Global Leadership Summit, August 11-12th
    What a fantastic Leadership Summit. The speakers were amazing and very thought provoking. If you have never attended the Global Leadership Summit, put it on your bucket list for next year. You will truly be inspired!

Organic Outreach Conference, Thursday, November 10th – Saturday, November 12th
The conference will include:

 

  • Five main sessions led by national leaders in outreach
  • Ten highly practical break-out sessions (you pick two)
  • Great worship music and times of praise
  • Three meals
  • A free copy of the book, Organic Outreach for Ordinary People
  • Time for networking with like-minded believers
  • Huge fun…with a non-threatening game at each main session that will lead to five churches winning an amazing evangelism library from Zondervan publishing!

HEART TO HOME – we are blessed with a ministry that helps women that are leaving the shelter or people in need, to set up their apartments with household items, beds, couches, kitchen tables/chairs, etc. We are pleased to announce that Jerelle Cockerham will be one of the Coordinators for this ministry. We are still looking for someone else with a heart like Jesus to help Jerelle coordinate this very worthwhile ministry. Have you thanked Jesus today for dying on the cross so that your sins would be forgiven?

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • Cypress Care Center Visit, Saturday, August 6th 9:45 – 11:30 a.m.
    Come join us as we share some love and Jesus with the residents of Cypress Ridge. If you have children or a friendly pet, bring them along also and see the residents brighten up as they interact with them. It is such a gift to them to see young ones, since they rarely get the opportunity!
  • Women’s Shelter Visit, Sunday, August 7th 7 – 8:30 p.m.
    If you like making jewelry, don’t miss this night of fun! Sandy Petricka will be teaching the women to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more. Come help as we show these women a way to relax and have fun.

FOOD DONATIONS
Thank you for blessing us
with your donations, we were able to help 305 people last month. The Food Pantry has some items but is in need of these particular items: dried beans and rice, peanut butter, soup, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned chicken, beef stew, canned tuna, pasta and pasta sauce, dry cereal and oatmeal.

Challenge: How is your organic outreaching going? Let’s move our degree up one notch and see if we can outreach to 2 people this week instead of one!

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • I- Help, Friday, July 29th 4- 8:30 p.m. & Saturday, July 30th 6-9 a.m.
    On the months when there is a 5th Friday we host the men that Friday too! So once again, we will be hosting the men of I-Help, providing them with food, a place to sleep, and sharing the words of Jesus. Let’s pray for these men to find the path that God has for them.

Trust in God when you are in the Land Between!

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • I-Help, Friday, July 22nd 4-8:30 p.m. & Saturday, July 23rd 6-9 a.m.
    We will be hosting the men of I-Help, providing them with food, a place to sleep, and sharing the words of Jesus. Let’s pray for these men to find the path that God has for them.
  • Cypress Ridge Care Center Visit (formerly Monterey Pines) Saturday, July 23rd 9:45 – 11:30 a.m.
    Due to a schedule change we were unable to visit with Cypress Ridge last weekend. So come join us this weekend as we share love and fellowship with the residents. Let’s touch their hearts with the light of God. Meet in the parking lot.

to the kids from VBS (Vacation Bible School) for all their food donations for the Food Pantry. It is wonderful to see you give from your heart at such a young age!     We are so grateful to each of you for taking time to help the women at Hamilton House to better their lives and situation. A special thank you to Lisa Jefferson for her presentation on Team Building! God still has us touching their hearts with His love.

Trust in God when you are in the Land Between!

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • I-Help, Friday, July 22nd 4-8:30 p.m. & Saturday, July 23rd 6-9 a.m.
    We will be hosting the men of I-Help, providing them with food, a place to sleep, and sharing the words of Jesus. Let’s pray for these men to find the path that God has for them.
  • Cypress Ridge Care Center Visit (formerly Monterey Pines) Saturday, July 23rd 9:45 – 11:30 a.m.
    Due to a schedule change we were unable to visit with Cypress Ridge last weekend. So come join us this weekend as we share love and fellowship with the residents. Let’s touch their hearts with the light of God. Meet in the parking lot.

FOOD DONATIONS
Thank you
to the kids from VBS (Vacation Bible School) for all their food donations for the Food Pantry. It is wonderful to see you give from your heart at such a young age! If you would like to donate also, the Food Pantry can use these items: dried beans and rice, peanut butter, soup, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned chicken, beef stew, canned tuna, pasta and pasta sauce, dry cereal and oatmeal.

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH:

  • Pasta with the Pastors (Monterey), Saturday, July 23rd 5-7 p.m.
    The 19th Annual Benefit for I-Help
    will be held at San Carlos Cathedral Hall, 500 Church St. This is an all you can eat event with silent auction. Our local clergy will serve the meals. Tickets are on sale at the Community Outreach Booth or at the door, $12 for adults and $5 for children under 10 yrs.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT MONTH:

  • Global Leadership Summit, Thursday, August 11th- Friday, August 12th
    Check the Website for info on this incredible event. General prices you will see on the Summit website are higher than Shoreline’s special rate of $129. Ask about registering for special (even lower) military and student/teacher rates.
  • Pasta with the Pastors (Salinas), Saturday, August 27th, 5-7 p.m.
    The 19th Annual Benefit for I-Help will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 Alvin Dr. This is an all you can eat event with silent auction. Our local clergy will serve the meals. Tickets are on sale at the Community Outreach Booth, $12 for adults and $5 for children under 10 yrs.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

  • Windsor Monterey Care Center, Saturday, July 16th
    We appreciate the time and love you all gave the residents. Without you their lives would be lonelier and they would not know how much God loves them. Thank you for giving you hearts!
  • Women’s Shelter Visit, Sunday, July 17th
    We are so grateful to each of you for taking time to help the women at Hamilton House to better their lives and situation. A special thank you to Lisa Jefferson for her presentation on Team Building! God still has us touching their hearts with His love.

Community Outreach News 07.14.11

Challenge: Go out and invite at least one person to the Organic Outreach Conference being held here at our church (see below)!

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND:

  • Monterey Pines Visit, Saturday, July 16th , 9:45-11:30 a.m.
    This Saturday we will be visiting both Cypress Ridge (formerly Monterey Pines) and Windsor Monterey Care Centers. We will need to be sharing a lot of love, so if it is in your heart to help share that love, please join us. Meet in the parking lot of Cypress Ridge.
  • Women’s Shelter Visit, Sunday, July 17th, 7-8:30 p.m.
    Join Lisa Jefferson as she teaches the, “Steps to Achieving Your Business/Job Goals.” Help to encourage these women to better their situation.

Thanks to so many of you, we were able to serve 370 people last month at the Food Pantry. A Big Thank You to Bob and Sherri Peters and their staff of volunteers for their part in making it happen! If you can donate, our needs are: dried beans and rice, peanut butter, soup, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned chicken, beef stew, canned tuna, pasta and pasta sauce.

  • Annual Backpack and School Supplies Assembly, Saturday, July 9th
    We are grateful to Pastor Andrew Manies, Lisa Pray and the many others who helped to stuff the backpacks, so that 300+ children will go to school prepared to learn this semester. Please see the great pictures of this event on Flickr.
