WORTHY OF WORSHIP, Week 3
“Too Good To Be True…John the Baptist’s Story”
Reading for the Week of December 12 – 18
Day 1- Matthew 3
Day 2- Matthew 11
Day 3- Matthew 14
Day 4- Luke 1
Day 5- John 1
Day 6- John 3
Bonus- John 5 & 7
Memorize/Reflect - “John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
Personal Reflection- John was clear about who Jesus was. His knowledge of Jesus set the direction for John’s life. How has your relationship with Jesus established the way you live your life, where you go, how you think, and who you are?
Discussion- John declared that Jesus was, and is, “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” How has Jesus freed you from the guilt and power of sin? How would your life be different if you did not have a relationship with Jesus?
Prayer Direction- Thank Jesus for being the Lamb of God who washes away your sins. Confess any hidden sins and ask Jesus to help you experience the complete forgiveness that comes through His death on the cross and resurrection.
“Live It!” Challenge - John spent a lot of time telling people who Jesus was. He said, “Jesus is the light, He brings grace and truth, He is God, He gives us purpose, and He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” Take time this week and tell someone who Jesus is to you.
Monthly Prayer Focus: This month we will focus on prayer through song. Get out a great Christmas CD and sing some of the great Christmas worship songs!
October-December: As we draw near the end of another year, we will continue to focus on the spiritual discipline of celebration. We will let this center on Jesus. This week, celebrate that Jesus is the Light of the world. Thank Him for bringing light into your dark places.
Resources online or in the Shoreline Bookstore: Consider reading Max Lucado’s book, God Came Near.

Small Groups Discussion Questions (Week 3 – Worthy of Worship)

07/25/2010 God Encounters – John The Baptist – An Un-tamable God - Kevin Harney
Each week our focus will be on one biblical character, a unique encounter they had with God, and something they learned (about their own faith and God) through this experience. This week our character will be John the Baptist, the encounter will be his time in prison and ultimate execution for following Jesus and the lessons will be: God does not always behave as we think He should and we need to follow Him even when things don’t make sense to us.
