Personal Reflection- How have you experienced God’s best in your life? What do you do that keeps you from experiencing God’s best?

Memorize/Reflect - “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Personal Reflection- What is unique in the way Jesus called these different people to follow Him? How did Jesus first begin to draw you to Himself and call you to follow Him?

Discussion- What is one joy you experience as you follow Jesus? What is one challenge of walking with Jesus day by day?

Prayer Direction- Thank God for calling you to be His child and for leading you each and every day. Ask for a heart that is surrendered to God’s will and a life that reflects the presence of Jesus.

“Live It!” Challenge - One of the best ways to follow God’s leading is to read and know His Word. Commit to do the Shoreline daily reading each day for the coming month and seek to find one truth that can impact your attitude, motives, actions, relationships…each day of the month.

Monthly Prayer Focus: This July we will focus our prayers on traveling, every day, with Jesus. This week, pray about how you can live and look more like Jesus each day. Identify one pattern in your life that does not reflect the love and heart of Jesus and seek to make adjustments to line up with God’s will.

Reading for the Week of July 10 – 16

Day 1- Exodus 1-3
Day 2- Exodus 4-5
Day 3- Exodus 6 and 12
Day 4- Exodus 13-14
Day 5- Exodus 15-16
Day 6- Exodus 17-18
Bonus- Exodus 19-20

Memorize/Reflect - “I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey…” (Exodus 3:8)

Personal Reflection- We all have times when we live in the desert land between a good place we have been and the place we know God is taking us. How do you feel when you are in this land between? If you are in such a time right now, what are you experiencing?

Discussion- Tell about a time you traveled through the land between and how God brought you out on the other side. What is a desert place you are facing today and how can others help and support you as you walk through this land between?

Prayer Direction- Thank God that He is with you, even in the most painful and difficult times you face in life. Ask God to help you see His face and hear His voice as you travel through the land between. Pray for friends and family members who are presently traveling through the land between.

“Live It!” Challenge - If you are in the land between right now, share your story with a trusted Christian friend. Let them know what you are facing and invite them to walk with you as a source of encouragement and strength.

Monthly Prayer Focus:This July we will focus our prayers on traveling, every day, with Jesus. This week, pray about how you respond when you are in a “land between” time of life. Ask God to give you strength and courage in these times. Meditate on the suffering of Jesus on the cross and how His strength can carry you through this time.

Resources for this week: Jeff Manion, our guest preacher, has written a wonderful book called, The Land Between. If you want to dig deeper into this topic, consider picking up this book at the Shoreline Bookstore.
