This month we are kicking off a new series called Peace—Proving you care more about each other than winning an argument. This Sunday, we looked at the story of Isaac’s Wells in Genesis 26:16-22, 26-31.  Our message in a bottle taught us to “Prove you care about others by walking away from a fight.” It was such a fun week! We want to share with you the Parent Cue and God Time cards so that you can continue teaching your children the message from Sunday. The Parent Cue cards each week will keep you updated with what we learn each week and the God Time Cards are a set of daily devotionals for your child to complete each day.

Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for more details on upcoming events!

Determination Week 4

On January 27, 2013, in Children's Ministry (Anchor Bay), by Children's Ministry

During our final week of Determination—deciding it’s worth it to finish what you’ve started—we learned that we should “Be the one who works hard because God sees your heart.” On Sunday, we looked at Colossians 3:23-24, which says: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” So whether it be doing chores or working hard in school, we should work for the Lord, with all our heart, knowing that it is God who we are serving.

Take a look at our new Parent Cue and God Time Cards for this week. They can be helpful for going deeper and for encouraging a daily quiet time for your kid.

The Parent Cue is also available on iPhone and Android devices. Search for the Parent Cue App by Rethink group to have these resources as close as your cell phone, computer, or iPad.

Determination Week 3

On January 20, 2013, in Children's Ministry (Anchor Bay), by Children's Ministry

During week three of Determination, we learned that we should “Be the one who sticks by someone in need.” This week we looked at the book of Ruth as she shows determination to stick with Naomi, even though it meant moving to a totally new country!

Determination Week 2

On January 13, 2013, in Children's Ministry (Anchor Bay), by Children's Ministry

As we completed week two of our theme of Determination—deciding it’s worth it to finish what you’ve started—we learned that we should “Be the one who does what God says because he’s AWE-some.” This week we learned about Moses and the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-15) and how Moses chose to listen to what God said, even though he didn’t feel like he was a good speaker, he was nervous about returning to Egypt, and he was nervous about asking Pharaoh to “let His people go.” But Moses still did what God asked him to do.

Determination Week 1

On January 6, 2013, in Children's Ministry (Anchor Bay), by Children's Ministry

This next month we will be discovering the Biblical value of Determination,  deciding it’s worth it to finish what you’ve started. This first week of Determination, our bottom line is: “Be the one who keeps doing what’s right.” As we learn about the story of Noah, we are reminded about how Noah continued doing what God asked him to do, even when it was difficult or when people made fun of him.

Take a look at our new Parent Cue and God Time Cards for this week. They can be helpful for going deeper in discussions with your kids and helping them to start being intentional with their daily devotions.

In our fundraising this last month, we raised $790.52! All of that money goes to Compassion International’s H2Go fundraiser. In one month, our students raised enough money to buy 10 buckets for families in Uganda! What a wonderful and amazing thing that is. That provides 10 million gallons of clean drinking water to families in need! Thank you for all of your help, encouragement, and intentionality in showing our students the importance of giving selflessly! Thank you!!

If you have any cool stories or pictures from the H2Go drive, please let us know! We would love to be able to include pictures and stories on our Facebook page! Take a look at our Twitter (@AnchorBayKids) and Facebook (Anchor Bay Kids) to stay connected for upcoming events!
