Middle School Missions Trip Update 5

On July 28, 2011, in Middle School - EXIT, Students, by Andrew

Tonight we are serving with Bridge Town ministries in Portland but for the afternoon have had a little fun checking out the city. Many of the kids have never road on a light rail system before and loved the trip to down town. Groups spent time at several shopping centers and art exhibits around Pioneer Square. Soon we will be heading for an evening of work but for now were enjoying games in the square. The amount of spectators our games drew was incredible. At one point we even had large groups cheering for students. The square is the back drop for the local news and the camera guys even came down and filmed awhile. It’s always fun to see what God surprises us with on our missions trip. Speaking of surprises we have been asked by a local church to be part of there group in a parade this Saturday. Enjoy the pics below.

Middle School Missions Trip Update

On July 6, 2010, in Middle School - EXIT, Students, by Andrew

Well it’s a hot day here in Stockton and we are part way through day two of our six days here working with New Day Community Church. The bible clubs are going well and the kids are having a wonderful time and doing a great job. Several of the bible clubs we are doing in parks have had low attendance but we are able to connect to the kids in a much deeper way. We have more kids joining the clubs throughout the day and it’s already been a huge blessing to the church here in Stockton.

Last night we were provided with dinner by the Jr High Pastor from Quail Lakes Church here in Stockton. Our groups go to Hume Lake the same week and we have been able to develop a great relationship over the last several years. It was such a blessing to have them host us for dinner and fun. The students felt truly blessed by this act of services and it was nice to enjoy some air conditioning for a few hours at the end of our long hot day. It’s great to have this huge reminder that no matter where we go, as Christians we always have family waiting to welcome us home.

Middle School Missions Trip Info

On July 5th we will be meeting at the church at 5:45am to get an early start on a week of ministering to the children of Stockton. From the 5th to the 10th we will be partnering with New Day Community Church, a young church in Stockton, to host a v.b.s. at their church site and 6 bible clubs in local parks and neighborhoods. Our middle school program has had an on going relationship with new day for several years. It’s been amazing to watch their progress as a church and to join with them in everything from their first v.b.s. to painting their buildings. If you go to their web site at newdaystockton.com you can see one of their buildings in the back ground which we painted two years ago and a white fence around the grass that we finished last summer. Our friendship with new day has been a wonderful with our students seeing the ongoing ministry that they have had a hand in developing. It’s such a blessing to return this summer to help with v.b.s. and to host their bible clubs. God has been generous in pouring out His love and spirit on all of our work with New Day and I’m excited to see what he has laid out for us this summer.

Parents of Students attending this trip please review the important information below:

Cost of the trip is $150 per student plus any spending money and money for 4 fast food meals
