Middle School Missions Trip Info

On June 28, 2010, in Middle School - EXIT, Students, by Andrew

On July 5th we will be meeting at the church at 5:45am to get an early start on a week of ministering to the children of Stockton. From the 5th to the 10th we will be partnering with New Day Community Church, a young church in Stockton, to host a v.b.s. at their church site and 6 bible clubs in local parks and neighborhoods. Our middle school program has had an on going relationship with new day for several years. It’s been amazing to watch their progress as a church and to join with them in everything from their first v.b.s. to painting their buildings. If you go to their web site at newdaystockton.com you can see one of their buildings in the back ground which we painted two years ago and a white fence around the grass that we finished last summer. Our friendship with new day has been a wonderful with our students seeing the ongoing ministry that they have had a hand in developing. It’s such a blessing to return this summer to help with v.b.s. and to host their bible clubs. God has been generous in pouring out His love and spirit on all of our work with New Day and I’m excited to see what he has laid out for us this summer.

Parents of Students attending this trip please review the important information below:

Cost of the trip is $150 per student plus any spending money and money for 4 fast food meals

We will be meeting at the church at 5:45am. I know it’s early but it’s important for us to beat traffic so we can setup for our first morning of v.b.s.

It’s an early morning but please have your student eat breakfast or bring something to snack on in the car as we will be driving straight through. A snack will be provided when we arrive.

We will be traveling in the church van and several leaders vehicles.

During our week the students will pay for 4 fast food meals. This should roughly be 4 -6 dollars per meal.

All other meals will be provided and prepared by our team or New Day.

We will be basing our work day and meals from New Day at 725 Oakmont Drive Stockton Ca.

We will be sleeping at Temple Baptist Church at 801 S. Lower Sacramento Road Lodi Ca.

The weather will be quite hot with the highs in the 90′s everyday and the lows in the 60′s. Please make sure to bring weather appropriate clothing while keeping modest in dress.

Our daily schedule will look something like

7:00am Wake up and get ready for the day

7:30am   morning prayers and group scripture reading

7:40am  Leave for New Day

8:05am  Breakfast

8:30am  Setup for V.B.S.

Two towels – one for showering one for swimming

bible and note pad

spending money + money for 4 fast food meals – spending money should not exceed $50

servants heart and a good attitude

Optional items:

Cell Phones – we will allow calls to mom and dad in the morning and the evening. Over use out side of the allotted times will result in the phone being held by the leaders other then the allotted time for calls home.

camera

sleeping mat if you like but no huge inflatable beds

super amazing heart for serving others

Things not to bring:

electronics such as ipods or game devices

magazines

nuclear weapons or other weapons

fireworks – highly illegal in the county. I only mention it since we are leaving on the 5th.

Primary contact while on the trip will be Pastor Andrew’s cell phone. If you must call for an emergency during the day then call Andrew or Danny as the students will be instructed to only answer their phones in the morning or evening. Taking calls while in v.b.s. or the bible clubs would be a huge distraction for our students and those we are ministering to so please respect this time.
