Memorize/Reflect - “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
Personal Reflection-How has God used hard experiences in your life to draw you to Him and strengthen your faith? How has Christ’s crucifixion on the cross – one of the worst things in the world – become the most redemptive thing in the world?
Discussion- Tell about an experience in your life that was hard, but God brought something very good out of this dark and painful time. Knowing that God can bring good out of the tough times of life, how should this impact the way we walk through these tough life experiences?
Prayer Direction- Thank God for the cross and the good He brought out of Jesus’ suffering. Pray for strength to hold onto the hand of Jesus in the hard times of life so you can get to the other side and see what God can do through these times.
“Live It!” Challenge - Write down a short list of three or four tough things you have faced in the last few years. Then, make a list of the good God brought through these experiences.
Monthly Prayer Focus: Pray for God to bless our journey through The Story. We begin reading the whole Bible in a year on January 1st. Ask God that every person who is part of our study of The Story will learn God’s Word and love the truth He has revealed in the Bible.
Resources for this week: Buy a copy of The Story at the Shoreline bookstore. You also might want to consider buying a study Bible for the New Year.
