Memorize/Reflect: “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” (John 19:30)
Personal Reflection: How does the cross of Jesus, His suffering, and the price He paid reveal the depth of God’s love for you? What do you learn about the character and heart of Jesus as He went to the cross and died for your sins?
Discussion: How did Jesus suffer (relationally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, in other ways) when He went to the cross? How has His suffering covered your sins and given you new life?
Prayer Direction: Confess any hidden sins and ask for a fresh reminder of the forgiveness Jesus freely offers through His death on the cross.
“Live It!” Challenge: Make a list of all the ways Jesus suffered for you as He died on the cross. Then, read Luke 9:23-25. After you read this passage, reflect on some of the ways you can take up your cross, being willing to suffer, and follow Jesus.
Monthly Prayer Focus: As we walk through the life of Jesus, The Man With the Plan, we will seek to learn from His prayers. Take time this week to read and pray through Isaiah 53 Let this passage guide you to thank God for all Jesus has done through His sacrifice on the cross.
