Community Outreach Backpack and School Supplies Drive 2011

On June 2, 2011, in Featured-Auto, by CommunityOutreach

Community Outreach’s Annual Backpack and School Supply Drive is on! For the month of June, we will be collecting with the help of Lisa Pray Project Coordinator, new backpacks & school supplies for underprivileged children in Monterey County. Last year we were able to provide 500 filled backpacks. This year the need is greater (1800) and we’re praying that you can help! We need new backpacks and school supplies (see list below). Every child deserves to go to school prepared to learn, so let’s do our part to make that happen. Please drop off your donations in the bins at the booth or in the lobby.

Then, on July 9th, Pastor Andrew Manies is organizing a group of people who will be stuffing the backpacks with the donated supplies. We will meet in the Fellowship Center at Shoreline from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. (lunch will be provided). Come join us and be a part of finalizing this great service project!
If you would like to participate or have any more questions, please contact Debra Federico or call 831.655.0100, x312.

School Supplies Needed:

  • Pens and #2 Pencils
  • Safe Scissors
  • 3 Ring Binder
  • Loose Leaf Paper
  • Colored Pencils and Crayons
  • Composition Books

Outreach Partners with Panetta Institute

On September 17, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Shoreline Community Church is teaming up with the Panetta Institute to assist with the Monterey County Reads Program. The Monterey County Reads program was established in 1997 to help children in Monterey County learn how to read. They accomplish this task by training and utilizing their volunteers in local after school reading programs in Carmel, Monterey Peninsula, North Monterey County, Salinas City Elementary, Santa Rita Union, Spreckels Union, Soledad, and San Antonio Union Unified School Districts.  In its first decade of assisting our community, the Monterey County Reads program had over 1,800 volunteers serve more than 85,000 hours of service—what an impact! If you are interested in volunteering for this wonderful cause, please stop by the Community Outreach booth on Sunday morning or contact Megan Huff at mhuff@shorelinechurch.org or 655-0100 ext. 338.
