Operation Christmas Child

On September 29, 2011, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Bless children in third-world countries with shoeboxes filled with Christ’s love.

Please pick up a shoebox here at Shoreline Church to fill. You can use a small plastic box or a standard shoebox that you wrap yourself (please wrap lid separately). Decide whether you will be giving to a boy or girl and which age range then mark it on the label (please place label on the top of the box in the middle). Fill your box with NEW:

  • TOYS
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES
  • HYGIENE ITEMS
  • PERSONAL NOTES (with photo of yourself or your family – if you include your name and address, the child may write you back.)
  • HARD CANDY AND LOLLIPOPS (please double bag all candy)
  • MINTS AND GUM
  • T-SHIRTS, SOCKS AND BALL CAPS
  • SUNGLASSES, HAIR CLIPS, TOY JEWELRY, WATCHES
  • FLASHLIGHTS (with extra batteries)
  • $7 DONATION FOR SHIPPING
DO NOT INCLUDE:
Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

If you make your $7 donation for shipping, using a credit or debit card online at Samaritans Purse, you will receive a special shoebox label included in your email. Place that label on your box, and then a specific barcode on that label is connected to your email address. The barcode enables Operation Christmas Child to track each shoebox gift and you will receive an email telling you the destination of your gift along with information about Operation Christmas Child in that country.

Drop your shoebox off on the sanctuary stage November 6th – 16th. (Please do not drop it off later then the 16th or it might not get to a child who would be blessed with your gift.)

Thank you for giving with your heart!

November Update in Outreach!

On November 3, 2010, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Hi Everyone!
Here is our update for the beginning of a new month! Be sure to check out the booth, and our calendar for more information!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
A TREMENDOUS THANK-YOU to all the wonderful volunteers who offered their time, creativity, and efforts to make our Shoreline Halloween Family Festival a fantastic event. We had an amazing turn-out, and were able to introduce many people to our church family, show them around the building, and talk to them about what God is doing here! You all made this possible! We also already have some great pictures up on flickr; you can check them out here!

Thank you again! We couldn’t have done it without you!

URGENT NEED – Shoreline Food Pantry
(Thank you for responding, please continue to see what you can give!)

THANK YOU thank you to everyone who brought in food for the food pantry this last week. The result of your giving was AMAZING. It is possibly the first time we have ever had our shelves this full from donations ALONE; usually our Food Pantry coordinator, Bob Peters, has to go to the Monterey County Food Bank and get food from them. However, as times are tough for everyone, their shelves have been empty as well. So… our church family stepped it up, and the result was wonderful. However, within a couple of weeks, most of it will be gone again, and people will go hungry. So, to reiterate what Kevin said on Sunday, let us not forget how privileged we are. Before you leave for church, we encourage you to open up your own food cabinets, look inside, and realize how blessed we are to have them even somewhat filled! Then, if the Lord moves your heart to do so, grab a can or two, bring it to church with you, and drop it in our food pantry bin. All the while, remember that you are giving of what the Lord’s already graciously given you. Or even take the next step further, and next time you are out grocery shopping, pick up one extra of a few items you buy for your own family. If everyone in our church did this, only a couple Sundays a month, our pantry would be stocked! Let’s not forget how blessed we are, and pray about how we can give of what we have to bless others.

WEEKEND EVENTS

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive

On October 22, 2010, in Community Outreach, Featured-Auto, by CommunityOutreach

For millions of children around the world, every year, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are tangible expressions of God’s love and constant presence. Whatever these precious children in poverty-stricken regions are facing, these boys and girls are reassured that they have a heavenly Father who cares about them. And that’s a gift that endures forever!

For the last twelve years, Shoreline Community Church has been getting on board with The Samaritan’s Purse, the organization who started Operation Christmas Child. Our church congregation has provided thousands of shoeboxes over these years to provide for children in need – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This year, again, we are so excited to participate in this amazing ministry that impacts so many…and we want to start early, in order to reach as many children as possible!

We have already started wrapping and collecting shoeboxes to pass out to our congregation in November and we will be encouraging everyone to take part in this drive. However, what you might not know, is that we are actually collecting shoeboxes now! The holiday season is extremely busy, but as we know the Lord wants us to serve and give of ourselves! OCC Shoeboxes are a simple way you can change a child’s life to show God’s love in a tangible way.

So… how can you get involved?
Stop by the Connections Center or Community Outreach Booth this Sunday and pick up an Operation Christmas Child brochure. This will give you the five simple steps of how to pack a box, what items should or shouldn’t go in the box, and any other information you may need to know! It’s amazing what a shoebox and a few items we take for granted every day can do to impact the life of a child for Christ.

If you have any further questions, please contact us at the church during our normal work hours, M-Th, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 831.655.0100.

We encourage you to pray about how God may want to use you to bless others this holiday season!
