Message: Family Series Part 3 – Understanding Life in the Family of God
I hope that everyone enjoyed the share night that we had last week, the audio is now up if you missed it and want to check it out. This week Thomas will be finishing up the family series, specifically talking about how we can be like the church family that God desires for us. Come out 7 p.m. this Sunday, it’s going to be a great night of fellowship, worship, and teaching of the word!
This last Sunday night Dan Evans came to share at Oxygen. It’s amazing at times to hear how people process concepts found within scripture. Each one of us can delve into Gods word and have things revealed to us in many differing angles based on our walk through life and our own spiritual experience. Dan opened the word and went straight to a topic often avoided, pain. Not so much physical pain but perhaps at times the physical would be included in this topic but more so the pain involved with following Christ. I asked Dan to give me a brief overview of what he had shared.
“R.E.M. was right: Everybody Hurts Sometimes. But nobody wants to. We spend time, energy, and money trying to get to a place in life where everything is easy and we have no troubles. One problem, though. That’s not possible. It’s a futile waste of your time, energy, and money. Jesus said it himself, “In this life you will have many trials and sorrows.” So rather than trying to avoid them, how do we deal with them in a way that a follower of Jesus should?” Dan Evans
Dan gave some great ideas on dealing with pain within our faith and follow of Christ. This next Sunday night Pastor Andrew will take a shot at answering Dan’s question of, “how do we deal with them in a way that a follower of Jesus should?”. If Dan lead you into thinking through things in a new way or perhaps facing an old struggle then your not alone. Now lets join together for a look at where to go with this pain we will all endure.
