Tuesday Night Small Groups
Now we are starting our second full week of small groups and a lot of good things have been happening even in the first week. We will be loosely following the small group studies for Shoreline as a whole, but each group will tailor it to their needs. These groups are designed for young adults and are based on Bible study and community. As of now there will be:
Couples Group: Led by Thomas and Shannon Hugo
Single Men: Led by Zach Harney and Tyler Smith
Single Women: Led by Cheryl Ryan
We hope to be adding more groups if there is more interest in the future
The groups have different meeting times and once you are in a group then you will be contacted by the leader and informed on more detail. As of now most groups are starting between 6-7 every Tuesday night. Let me know if you didn’t sign up on Sunday but are interested in being a part of one of these groups or starting your own.
If you have interest email me, Zach Harney.

This Tuesday night we are going to meet at Habaneros once again at 8 p.m. for discussion and fellowship. This will be the last time we will be meeting at this location and in this format, because we want to try something new that Thomas will announce this Sunday night. For tomorrow night, we will be talking about the idea of heaven, hell, and eternal existence after death and what this means for us as Christians. This idea has been brought to the forefront by Pastor Rob Bell of Mars Hill Church through his book – Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Everyone Who Ever Lived.
Here is a video by Rob Bell about the book:

Then here is a video of an interview done by MSNBC talk show host Martin Bashir in response to the book:

The conception and idea of heaven, hell, and eternal destiny has been and will continue to be a heavily debated topic. I think most importantly though, we need to look at scripture. Here are some good verses to think about as we prepare for this discussion:
Matthew 18:2-4
Matthew 5:22
Matthew 10:28
John 3:16-18
Romans 6:23
2 Thessalonians 1:5-10
Hope to see all of you there!
Where: 400 Tyler Street, Monterey, Ca 93940
When: 8:00 pm on Tuesday 3/22/11
What to bring: Bible and money if you want food

We are meeting at Habaneros once again this week, the address is at the bottom of the message in case you haven’t been there yet. We are going to continue in our study of 1 & 2 Timothy for the next two weeks, so I think it would be beneficial to do some reading out of these books. One very interesting section from 2 Timothy is found in chapter 3, where Paul informs Timothy of the use and nature of scripture. To get a sense of what he says, read through these verses in Timothy and some others:
2 Timothy 3:10-17
John 10:34-35
Titus 1:1-3
I’d like to talk about how we view scripture and what the Bible says about what scripture is. Hope to see you all there tomorrow!

This week we are meeting at Habaneros again, for those of you who haven’t come any of the previous weeks, the location is down below. Andrew is going to be leading the discussion this week following what we are talking about in the main service, prayer. Here are some of the passages we will be looking at:
Matthew 6:7
Matthew 18:19-20
Romans 8:26
James 5:16
Psalms 4
After reading through each of these passages we will be talking about how prayer is presented and how it relates to our own prayer lives. As you get ready to talk about this topic, think about the various ways that you were taught to pray and some other ways that you have seen people pray. I hope by the end of our discussion everyone will have more direction in their own prayer time. See you there tomorrow!
