I Want to Talk With My Teen About Movies, Music & More – Book Review

On September 14, 2011, in Middle School - EXIT, Students, by Andrew

I recently have had many conversations with parents seeking wisdom in the area media choices with their students. This can be a hot button issue in many homes and I always recommend  thinking through your approach to this issue before confronting or challenging your student. In the pages of  I want to Talk With My Teen About Movies, Music & More you will find a wealth of information on the pitfalls and challenges you may face. I would highly recommend this book to all parents.

I want to Talk With My Teen About Movies, Music & More by Walt Mueller

A short, concise, and very user friendly guide to the media world of teens, with easy to read, practical advice on how to help your teen engage media.  A great tool to help parents who need to understand how their teens interact with a variety of media outlets. The book includes practical tips on how to help your teen think critically and Christianly about their media habits, without being preachy or judgemental. A great book to read and keep close at hand as you seek to engage your children and look for teachable moments.

Middle School Romans Class – Sunday Third Service!

On September 14, 2011, in Middle School - EXIT, Students, by Andrew

Middle School Sunday Mornings has added something new to third service here at Shoreline. Cram Session is all about learning scripture and theology in a direct and clear manner. In these 12 week classes we will dive into books of the bible with a whole new depth. Our first session started morning Sunday Sept 11th during the third service. There are two open spots remaining so just show up or contact Danny Killough for more information at dkillough@shorelinechurch.org.

In this first sessions we will spend time looking at the beginning of Romans and getting to know each other. Over the 12 weeks following we will look at the first several chapters of Romans in detail. It’s going to be a great time of learning and also a lot of fun.

Were – upstairs in the children’s area room 1208.
When – Sundays third service
Why – To learn God’s word in an impacting fun class setting.

With the great level of response we have had with this class we are considering a similar elective class during the first service. Please contact Pastor Andrew for information on this possibility. Andrew@shorelinechurch.org
