Memorize/Reflect - “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
Personal Reflection- What are the moments you are tempted to believe your salvation and God’s love for you are based on how good you behave? How do you feel when you realize that God loves you with unyielding passion, no matter how you behaved today?
Discussion- Why are we prone to believe that God’s love for us is contingent upon our behavior in the past 24 hours or the last week? What are the things in the world that shape our thinking and cause us to believe that we are always judged on our behavior? How is God’s love dramatically different that the world’s philosophy?
Prayer Direction- Ask God to help you live with a deep and abiding awareness of His passionate love for you. Thank Jesus for dying on the cross for you when you were still covered with sin and a rebel at heart (Romans 5:8).
“Live It!” Challenge - Memorize and meditate on Romans 5:8 this week: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Monthly Prayer Focus: Through September we will focus our prayers on Shoreline Ministries. Take time this week to pray for our High School Ministry. Lift up Pastor Nate and all of our High School volunteers. Pray that the young people at Shoreline will love God with passionate hearts and seek Jesus as their first love.

Discussion- What basic religious truths were you taught as you were growing up (This could be formal or informal training)? How would a devout Jewish person feel if you told them their beliefs were the same as a devout Muslim?
Prayer Direction- Thank God for revealing himself when He entered human history on the first Christmas. Pray for a heart that worships God and never bows down to any idols or false gods.
“Live It!” Challenge - Look closely at your daily life and identify any kind of idol or source of false worship or undue allegiance. Do all you can to purge out devotion to anything that sets itself up as a rival to the one true God!

Prayer Direction- Ask God to help your love for the Bible grow deeper and deeper. Pray that you will dig deep into God’s Word and live out the truths you learn. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill and guide your pastors as they preach God’s Word.
“Live It!” Challenge - Commit to make time to open God’s Word and read it every day for the next thirty days. Write down one lesson from what you read each day and seek to live out this truth. Also, consider signing up for the “Big Picture of the Bible” class on Saturday, September 17th.

Discussion- What are some of the pressure situations Christians face that tempt us to act like we don’t know Jesus? How do you think Jesus feels when His children deny Him in action or attitude?
Prayer Direction- Thank Jesus for calling you to be His follower and friend. Thank Him, even though you fail or deny Him, He still loves you. Pray for power to stay devoted to Jesus no matter what you face.
“Live It!” Challenge - Identify one situation you face in life that tempts you to compromise on your faith. Make a plan for how you can stand strong and honor Jesus the next time you face this situation.
