COMheader0Record Breaking Volunteer Turnout!

We had the biggest volunteer turnout that Shoreline Clean-Up day has ever had!  Many projects were completed. The Sanctuary was thoroughly cleaned and the Anchor Bay room was cleared out and is looking great.  Landscaping work as well as other projects throughout the building were completed. Many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who came out and made a big difference in their home church.

women0Please consider coming this Sunday, March 7th to the Women’s Shelter visit from 7-8:30p.m.   It is a great opportunity to encourage and bless women who are in transition.  Please stop by the Community Outreach booth if you are interested on attending or would like further information.

The next Homeless Connect event takes place on Wednesday, March 24th at 10 a.m. at the Monterey Adult School at 222 Casa Verde Street in Monterey. This ministry event helps and encourages the homeless to get connected to the services they need. We are seeking volunteers to help us help them.

The Sea Otter Classic is looking for volunteers to help out with these world-renowned bicycle races. We have volunteered help them. We have various positions open during the week of April 12th-18th.

If you are interested in these or any other opportunities to serve, please contact Erica Alvarado or Deb Federico or call 831.655.0100 x338

Community Outreach Update for 2.3.10

On February 3, 2010, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

COMheader0Community Outreach has TONS of opportunities to serve coming up and already going on.  We wanted to let you know what they are and how YOU can help make the work light for everyone.

THANK YOU to everyone who showed up to help out for Shoreline Clean-Up Day this past Saturday. You were such a blessing to our church body.  We were able to accomplish so much including a new paved side walkway, cleaning the sanctuary, moving furniture for the ministry fair on Sunday, organizing the men’s clothes and painting a room at the Women’s Shelter.

This Sunday, February 7th from 7-8:30 pm is our first of two visits to the Women’s Shelter for the month of February. Come and join us to encourage and empower these women in transition.  Contact us for more information on this opportunity to serve.

Speaking of the Women’s Shelter, our Benevolence & Hope Team has adopted a room to give some much-needed refurbishment. This project has a pretty hefty price tag, so we are looking for some financial assistance. If you would like to donate to this project, please let us know. We have items you can “sponsor” by donating anywhere from $5-$50.

DON’T FORGET: next Saturday, February 13th from 9 am-2 pm is February’s Serve Saturday where we will be sharing God’s love by distributing valentines to various locations around Monterey County. Meet in the church parking lot at 9 am.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES:

Homeless Connect is an event that helps people in transition get receive services they may not otherwise because of their current station in life. The next Homeless Connect event takes place on Wednesday, March 24th at 10 am at the Monterey Adult School at 222 Casa Verde Street in Monterey.

The Sea Otter Classic is looking for volunteers to help out with these world-renowned bicycle races. We have volunteered help them. We have various positions open during the week of April 12th-18th.

If you would like more information on these or any other opportunities to serve, please contact Megan Huff or Deb Federico or call 831.655.0100 x338.
