Prayer Direction: Pray for Shoreline Community Church to be so recklessly devoted to Jesus that we will follow Him no matter where He calls us to go and no matter what He calls us to do! Ask the Holy Spirit to move in power when we are together so that as many people as possible can become totally committed to Jesus Christ.
“Live It!” Challenge: Bless a Church Leader - Take time to write two notes this week. First, write a note to one of our Leadership Team members (They are listed in the bulletin and on the website. Next, write a note of thanks and encouragement to one of our staff members. Thank these leaders for how they serve faithfully and bring blessings to others.
Small Group Discussion (Reckless Church):
- Read: James 1:27; Deuteronomy 10:17-19; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4; and Colossians 3:12. A reckless church will extend grace, mercy, and compassion to those who are broken and outcast (but do this with wisdom!). With this in mind, what are some of the ways Shoreline Church is seeking to care for the hurting and broken in our community?
Are there some fresh, creative, and new ways we can extend grace in our community and beyond? - Why do we have to be prayerful, patient, and wise as we extend mercy and care for those who are facing hard times? What are some of the risks we could face if we don’t exercise wisdom as we extend care?
- Read: 2 Timothy 3:14-17. What do we learn about the Bible in this passage?
- How have you experienced God using His Word to teach, rebuke, correct, or train you in righteousness?
- What are some of the things the Bible teaches that our culture pushes back against? What are some of the challenges we could face if our church holds to these biblical truths, even when the culture fights against them?
- Read: Psalm 96:1; Psalm 98:1; 2 Corinthians 5:16-17. Our God is the one who created the heavens and the earth. He loves beauty, color, texture, and new things…including new songs! Why is it important that Shoreline Church not fall into the rut of traditionalism and mindless routine? What are some of the dangers of becoming a “Same old, same old” church?
- What are some of the new and creative things happening at Shoreline that will help us fulfill our mission to help as many people as possible become totally committed to Jesus Christ?
- Read: Matthew 28:16-20 and Acts 1:4-8. Jesus calls His people, His Church, to bring the message of His love and grace to their next-door neighbors and to the ends of the earth. What are some of the ways you see Shoreline seeking to fulfill the call of Jesus to spread His truth in our community and around the world?
- Why is it important for every person who calls Shoreline their church home to be sharing their faith with others? What are some of the ways you are seeking to do organic outreach and share God’s love with the people God has placed in your life?
- How can your group members pray for you as you seek to let the light of Jesus shine through your life?
