Celebrating Peace! Advent week 2 @ Oxygen

On December 7, 2008, in Oxygen (Young Adults), by Andrew

Last week we began Advent at Oxygen with the week of Hope. Pastor Andrew shared about finding and seeking hope in this season and our lives. This week we are moving forward into the week of Peace.

The idea of peace in this day and age is such an exciting concept but it seems very far from something attainable. We have gone through so many ups and downs around the world in the last few years. Everywhere we go we hear talk of war, famine, hunger, pain, genocide, and so much hate. Peace seems like something only a child could dream of or ever think could happen. What does peace look like in your mind? Some of us may think peace will come with freedom from debt, or finding the right job. Maybe it’s finding the perfect guy or girl, some it may seem as simple as finishing school. So what’s peace look like to you? Take a moment and picture peace.

We all have our own idea of what may bring us peace but as we move through this time of Advent we see a greater peace then any of us could ever dream up. This peace that comes with Christ is a peace that surpasses all understanding. Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the Prince of Peace, I love that idea. He not only brings peace but He is the ruler of peace. Who better to seek true peace from then the only one with the power to offer it.

I pray and hope that in this advent season you can seek peace in your life from Christ who freely provides.

Fall EXIT Events

On August 25, 2008, in Middle School - EXIT, by Exit

Below we have attached the EXIT fall events flyer. I want to take a few moments to give detail on these activities. Please fell free to e-mail me for more information on any of the EXIT outings or events.

GAME NIGHT!      September 19th 6pm – 9pm     @ the youth room

Our game nights are one of the most exciting and crazy events of the year. If the game includes making a mess, throwing fish, smashing eggs, catching food, eating the unimaginable then it will more then likely make the list for our next game night. Thomas Ryan, one of the Middle School Interns, spends hours researching and putting together a line up of games that makes for endless excitement and laughter. The last game night has set the bar high as to where we will go next. This is the perfect setting for our students to introduce friends to the Shoreline. In the atmosphere of craziness and fun, bonds are built quickly and memories are made. This is a night that should not be missed and that we highly encourage students to bring as many friends as possible.

COSTUME MOVIE NIGHT      OCT 24 6PM – 9PM      @ the youth room

Movie nights are always a great time of getting together to enjoy great food and a fun movie. So when we add costumes into the mix the night is even better. Come out dressed as a super hero, alien, farmer, IRS agent, or pretty much anything you like. The pretty much anything means we like to keep things P.G. so nothing crazy scary, bloody, and please keep your costume modest. We end the evening with a costume contest so keep that in mind when you decide how to dress up. The contest includes prizes for best use of household items, most use of the EXIT logo, tallest hat, best smelling costume, costumed friends, and overall best costume. Make sure to come out and bring your friends.  We are deciding on a movie soon so e-mail your suggestion to andrew@shorelinechurch.org.

Check back often as we will post information on upcoming events and other news regularly!

Hume Lake Update

On June 30, 2008, in High School Ministry, by High School Ministry

We are now halfway through camp and things are going wonderfully. Last night was a turning point for many students who made decisions for Jesus. Today it has been a joy to follow up with them and discuss what their futures hold. Please continue to pray for our students and our amazing leaders. Our prayer is that as God has been working in the lives of our students, he will continue to do so. Thank you for your support and prayers.
