If your going to buy fireworks for this fourth of July please consider buying yours from the Pulse Youth Group of Monterey Bay Christian Center fireworks stand. The stand is a half block south of Broadway on Fremont Street in Seaside. The fireworks stand is their youths groups largest source of funding for the year and helps them reach the teens of Seaside for Christ. So if your a fireworks lover like my self then buy your fireworks from Pulse Youth Group knowing that the profits are helping a great ministry serving the Monterey area. When your there tell Pastor Abby that Pastor Andrew from Shoreline says, hi. Hope you all have a great 4th of July!

Every fireworks stand in Seaside is ran by a nonprofit group so know who your supporting.

Friday night Sept 17th Exit our middle school group will be having an epic game night here at Shoreline. Every game night we top the last and the games get crazier! This is a must for all 6th to 8th graders as it’s one of the biggest events of the year. So if your ready to chug clam juice, smash eggs with fish, spin to you fall, and win great prizes then this is your night. Come to play or just to watch but either way bring a friend for an amazing evening. In the Shoreline youth room at 6pm on Sept 17th.

Parents we are always looking for more volunteers so why not come hangout for the night to see how you might get involved with the middle school team. One way to help would be to provide snacks such as chips, popcorn, or finger foods for our events. Contact Pastor Andrew for more information.

This week we are looking at the habit of accountability. Sunday morning several of the middle school leaders shared about times when accountability has played a large role in their life and how they stay accountable on a regular basis. From these stories Danny went into scripture to teach through accountability as we find it in scripture. At Exit we strive to teach the students that you can’t make it through life alone and being held accountable my bothers in part of our community.

Below is a short outline to help continue the conversation at home. Please contact Pastor Andrew with any questions or leave a comment on this post to share your thoughts with other readers.

ACCOUNTABILITY ADDS UP…

Accountability adds INSIGHT to your decisions Result: direction

Fools think they need no advice, but the wise listen to others. Proverbs 12:15

Accountability adds TRUTH to your perception Result: perspective

Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. Proverbs 27:6

Accountability adds HOPE when you’re hurting Result: healing

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

James 5:16

Accountability adds FAITH to your journey Result: spiritual growth

As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17

Deeper friends=Better Life=Greater impact=People meet Jesus=Lives are changed

MOVING FROM FRIENDSHIP TO ACCOUNTABILITY

Meet FAITHFULLY

Speak TRUTHFULLY

Admit STRUGGLES

Encourage STRENGTHS

Challenge SPIRITUALLY

One last thought: Developing this habit will change your FRIENDSHIPS & your LIFE.

Sunday morning Pastor Andrew began this series by sharing about why it’s important to hang out with God. We spent time talking about why do we choose to spend time with the people we spend time with and how do they influence our lives. From there we spent time talking about how as christians we should be on a constant journey to be more like christ so that means we must spend time with him.

Below is a short outline to help continue the conversation at home. Please contact Pastor Andrew with any questions or leave a comment on this post to share your thoughts with other readers.

Hanging out with God…

Dearest friends, you were always so careful to follow my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away you must be even more careful to put into action God’s saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:12-13

Your relationship with God is meant TO GROW

Spiritual growth is a life-long JOURNEY

Developing spiritual habits will help you grow ON YOUR OWN

When you spend time with God…

He changes your HEART

Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:9-10

He gives you DIRECTION for living

Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:104-105

But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative– and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit– he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you. John 14:26

He’s there during your PROBLEMS

He [God] comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1: 4

Hanging out with God…

1. Make time with God a PRIORITY

2. Take the time REGULARLY

3. Hang out with comfort rather than GUILT

Helping your students develop healthy habits for long-term, independent spiritual growth is the name of the game here. The HABITS series will bring them into the Word of God and give them tools to keep developing their faith, even after they’ve moved on from middle school. The HABITS sermon series outlines six spiritual disciplines for all believers, young and old: hang out time with God, accountability with another believer, Bible memorization, involvement with the church body, tithing and scripture study. Over the next six weeks we will dive deep into not only learning about these habits but also learning how to put them into practice. Make sure to be at church every Sunday for the next six weeks because these truly are life changing habits that you need.

Parents this series is the one that you want your student to be part of every week. As school starts back the students are ready for new challenges so lets make sure that we are pushing them in their faith first and foremost. Also these are habits that will help them improve not only in their faith but will help them develop further in discipline with school and work later in life. Please join with us in helping your student be ready for all they will face this school year and beyond.

Check back here each week for updates on what we have covered so you can continue the conversation at home. Also this is always a great place to find information on upcoming events.

On July 5th we will be meeting at the church at 5:45am to get an early start on a week of ministering to the children of Stockton. From the 5th to the 10th we will be partnering with New Day Community Church, a young church in Stockton, to host a v.b.s. at their church site and 6 bible clubs in local parks and neighborhoods. Our middle school program has had an on going relationship with new day for several years. It’s been amazing to watch their progress as a church and to join with them in everything from their first v.b.s. to painting their buildings. If you go to their web site at newdaystockton.com you can see one of their buildings in the back ground which we painted two years ago and a white fence around the grass that we finished last summer. Our friendship with new day has been a wonderful with our students seeing the ongoing ministry that they have had a hand in developing. It’s such a blessing to return this summer to help with v.b.s. and to host their bible clubs. God has been generous in pouring out His love and spirit on all of our work with New Day and I’m excited to see what he has laid out for us this summer.

Parents of Students attending this trip please review the important information below:

Cost of the trip is $150 per student plus any spending money and money for 4 fast food meals

We will be meeting at the church at 5:45am. I know it’s early but it’s important for us to beat traffic so we can setup for our first morning of v.b.s.

It’s an early morning but please have your student eat breakfast or bring something to snack on in the car as we will be driving straight through. A snack will be provided when we arrive.

We will be traveling in the church van and several leaders vehicles.

During our week the students will pay for 4 fast food meals. This should roughly be 4 -6 dollars per meal.

All other meals will be provided and prepared by our team or New Day.

We will be basing our work day and meals from New Day at 725 Oakmont Drive Stockton Ca.

We will be sleeping at Temple Baptist Church at 801 S. Lower Sacramento Road Lodi Ca.

The weather will be quite hot with the highs in the 90′s everyday and the lows in the 60′s. Please make sure to bring weather appropriate clothing while keeping modest in dress.

Our daily schedule will look something like

Optional items:

Cell Phones – we will allow calls to mom and dad in the morning and the evening. Over use out side of the allotted times will result in the phone being held by the leaders other then the allotted time for calls home.

If you must call for an emergency during the day then call Andrew or Danny as the students will be instructed to only answer their phones in the morning or evening. Taking calls while in v.b.s. or the bible clubs would be a huge distraction for our students and those we are ministering to so please respect this time.
We live in a self-centered culture with an attitude of entitlement. From the decisions we make to the things we say, our lives reflect an abundance of “me.” This “me-centered culture” is in opposition to II Corinthians 5:14-15 which says: “For Christ’s love compels us, for we are convinced that one died for all therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and was raised again.”
This summer we will address the “me-centered culture” of today’s youth by challenging students to understand that we were bought with a price by the death of Christ and the life we live belongs to Him. We are called daily to selflessly submit to Christ. We are called to excuse ourselves out of the way so that God gets the glory. This summer we will learn what it means to Excusez-Mwa!?…
