Oxygen Tuesday Night

On March 14, 2011, in Oxygen (Young Adults), Students, by Young Adult

Hey Everyone,

This Tuesday Night we are going to be meeting for a ridiculous night of the worst music you’ve heard in your life.  Whereas we typically have nights where people bring their favorite song to share why it is so special to them or what it means to them personally, this is not a night for that.  We literally want you to bring one or two of the worst songs you have ever heard, and bring them to punish the ears of others.  It can be anything from a cheesy kids song, an obscure band that isn’t famous for a reason, a famous band that has somehow gotten popular despite their awful qualities, or maybe even something you’ve created yourself.  Basically, we just want to get together and have a fun time laughing and quite possibly crying (if the music is that bad).  Invite some friends, bring a snack to pass, and most importantly bring the worst song you have ever heard.  There will be different awards for different levels and areas of terribleness.  Hope to see you all there!

When: Tuesday, March 15th
Where: At Shoreline Church in the Youth Room
What to Bring: Song on an iPod or CD to share, snacks to pass

Oxygen Tuesday Night: Make your own Sushi

On February 7, 2011, in Oxygen (Young Adults), Students, by Young Adult

This Tuesday night (tomorrow), we are going to be making Sushi and hanging out at the Vevoda’s house. We are just going to each bring an ingredient or two and then make a bunch of different rolls. Please look at the list below so that you can figure out what to bring, but please let me know if you are going to pick something up so that we don’t buy too much of one thing or miss anything. They live out in San Benancio off of the 68, and it is a little bit difficult to get to their house, so I will give you detailed instructions. If you are coming from either direction on the 68, either from Monterey or Salinas, you are going to turn on San Benancio Rd. Next you will go a little less than a mile and turn left on Harper Canyon Rd. The turn in for this road is just after you come down a sudden decline on the road, so look out for it. You will then drive a little ways down that road and take another left on Rimrock Canyon Rd., and there will be a big sign that says Rimrock at the turn in. From there you will go up a fairly steep incline and their house will be on the right after a couple speed bumps. If you have any questions on the way there give me a call at (616) 862-5041.

Here is a list of possible ingredients:

Crab
Salmon
Cream Cheese
Cucumbers
Carrots
Green Apple
Rice wine vinegar
Rice
Wasabi
Seaweed
Oranges

Please let me know as soon as possible if you can pick something up, thanks!

Where: Vevoda’s at 24553 Rimrock Canyon Rd., Salinas CA
When: 8:00 pm – 10:00pm
What to bring: An ingredient and an appetite

Oxygen Tuesday Night

On January 24, 2011, in Oxygen (Young Adults), Students, by Young Adult

Hey everyone, now that everyone is pretty much back from school, we are staring up Tuesday nights again.  This Tuesday night we are starting up our discussion time again and are going to try meeting at a different place.  The new meeting spot is going to be London Bridge Pub and Restaurant and it is located on the wharf a little bit down and across the street from the Monterey Sports Center.  It is just off of Del Monte Blvd. and located underneath Sapporo.  You have to pay for parking until 8 pm, so if you don’t want to risk it or pay, I would show up right at 8.  Finally, this is a fairly big place with multiple rooms, and we will most likely be meeting in the back room where there are couches and it is a little bit quieter, so when you go in the entrance, just keep walking back.  We are going to be looking at two passages for this Tuesday which are:

1 Timothy 6: 3-10
2 Corinthians 8

These passages are following along with what we have been looking at in main service in the area of giving generously and living our lives with open hands.  Hope to see all of you there!

When: Tuesday Jan. 25 at 8:00 pm
Where: 256 Figueroa St. Monterey CA, 93940 under Sapporo
What to bring: Bible and money if you want food

Oxygen Christmas Party

On December 7, 2010, in Oxygen (Young Adults), Students, by Young Adult

It’s Today! Hey everyone, just sending out a last reminder that tomorrow at 7 p.m. we will be having the Oxygen Christmas party at the Hugo’s house. We are still looking for people to bring some appetizers, deserts, and drinks, so please try to bring some sort of food or drink with you to contribute. Also, another reminder that the parking is limited at their house, so please try to carpool with as many people as you can. The Hugo’s house is a little bit difficult to find, so we will have two large 4-ft. tall light up candle decorations on either side of the entrance to their driveway. The parking lot of REI could be a good spot to meet if you need to leave your car somewhere. We have some supplies for the gingerbread houses, but if you want more than the basics you could pick up some candy of your own to decorate. We are looking forward to everyone coming out a spending one last time together before some people start heading home for the holidays. This would be a perfect chance to introduce someone to a group event where they would feel comfortable and relaxed.  If you have any last minute questions email me (Zach Harney) at zharney@shorelinechurch.org with anything you are wondering about.  Hope to see you all there, invite some people if you get the chance!

When: 7th of December at 7:00 p.m.
Where: The Hugo’s – 13025 Reservation Rd Salinas, Ca

Oxygen Cooking in Community – Tomorrow Night!

On November 8, 2010, in Oxygen (Young Adults), Students, by Young Adult

Just reminding everyone involved with Oxygen that our cooking in community night is tomorrow night! This is open to anyone who attends Oxygen or wants to check the group out.  The basic concept is that we will have three or four people cooking and everyone is free to walk around the kitchen and watch the process.  The cooks (a couple people from the group) will be explaining how they are making their particular dishes and maybe even some of their cooking secrets.  Basically it is just a time when we can all hang out and get to know each other better over some delicious food.  We are also hoping that people will want to bake/cook some of their own favorites to bring to pass.  This is a great event to invite someone that may not normally feel comfortable in a church setting to come check out the group and I encourage everyone to try and invite someone.  If you want to carpool, meet at the church at 6:30, there is a group coming from the church.  Also, if you plan on driving out separately, you will need to park out on Tierra Spur street, not in the small street leading up to our driveway, thanks! We hope to see everyone there!

When: Tuesday Nov. 9 – Starting at 7:00 p.m.

Where: My household – 13683 Tierra Spur, Salinas CA 93908

What to bring: Any dish that you want people to try and a big appetite
