This Tuesday night we will once again be meeting at Oh! Sushi at 8:00 p.m. This week we will be looking at Colossians chapters 1-3. If you want to focus on one chapter I would look closely at chapter 2, because this is an amazing chapter with lasting truth that will be exciting to discuss. As always, make sure that you do the reading so we can have a real discussion!

“I could not help thinking that somewhere along the way we had missed what is radical about our faith and replaced it with what is comfortable. We were settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about abandoning ourselves” – David Platt
This week we will be talking about how our faith is affected by living in this particular time, and specifically, in America. In other words, does American culture encourage us to pick up our cross daily, or has it created a nominal devotion that doesn’t infringe upon our comforts. Also, how can we positively take steps towards change instead of just talking about it? This will in no way be a “bash America session”, but a discussion about how American culture affects our faith and what we can do to bring the culture that Jesus Christ preached about more fully to earth.
Here are a few passages that will help you start to form some ideas about the topic:
Philippians 3: 12-21
Luke 14: 26-34
Mark 10: 17-31
Matthew 4: 18-22
Come ready to share your thoughts and and ideas on what it looks like to follow the example of Christ’s life and live in a way pleasing to God, yet within our culture.
We will be meeting at Oh! Sushi at 8:00 p.m. (2030 N. Fremont St., Monterey, CA, 93940) We hope to see everyone there!
