On August 25, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Here’s what’s going on with the Community Outreach team!

Shoreline Clean-Up Day is quickly approaching! Join us THIS Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. as we clean the church and beautify the grounds in order to make our church home presentable for members and guests alike.

Sunday, September 6th marks our first of two visits to the Women’s Shelter for the month of September. Accompany us as we minister to these women in a time of transition.

com1On Saturday, September 12th from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. we will be helping the residents of the El Dorado Motel in Salinas. We will be helping them by cleaning and maintaining the facilities. We are currently in need of trucks for this event.

The Pacific Grove Triathlon is here again! Community Outreach has been asked to provide volunteers for the events which take place on the weekend of September 11th-September 13th. The organizers are seeking our help in every aspect of the event from registration to the finish line. We are still in need of volunteers for the 12th and the 13th.

For more information on these and other opportunities to serve, please contact Debra Federico at dfederico@shorelinechurch.org or Megan Huff at mhuff@shorelinechurch.org.

Exciting Things in Community Outreach!

On August 12, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Here’s a quick reminder of what’s happening in this exciting ministry.

back-to-school-supplies0Serve Saturday: THANK YOU to all those who came out to stuff backpacks for children in our surrounding area; it made such a difference in these children’s lives to be able to go back to school prepared.

Convalescent Home Visit, August 15th: Come on out and join us as we minister to the residents of Monterey Pines Convalescent Home. There will be a time of worship and fellowship with these deserving people. It will definitely be a worthwhile experience.

Women’s Shelter Visit, August 16th: Use the gifts that God gave you and share them with women in transition. Whether it’s crafts, singing or just an attentive ear, these women are in need of the light and love of Jesus and WE are there to provide that light and love.

For more information regarding these and other events, please contact Debra Federico at defederico@shorelinechurch.org or 655-0100 x312 or Megan Huff at mhuff@shorelinechurch.org or 655-0100 x338.

Special Attention: Women’s Shelter Outreach

On July 23, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

womens-shelter0Women’s Shelter Outreach:
July 19th, August 2nd, August 16th |  7:00-8:30 p.m.

ATTN: Calling all Shoreline Women!
What skills has God given you that you can share and empower women in crisis? Is it a song? A prayer? Is it a craft? Your time? Maybe you would like to cook dinner, bring a special treat, or refreshments? Nothing is too small or too big to share.
Join us on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evening from 7:00-8:30 pm to help empower women to reach their goals. Some ways you might be able to help these women are: learning how to write a resume, tools for budgeting, health and dental tips, how to dress for a interview, etc. There are so many ways! Let’s share what God has given us!
For more information, call the Deb Federico or Megan Koontz at the church (831.655.0100 ext. 312 or 338) or sign up at the booth on Sundays.

What’s new in the Community Outreach Ministry

On May 14, 2009, in Community Outreach, by CommunityOutreach

Community Outreach Ministry is very busy this spring.  A big thank you to all the volunteers, without you all none of this would be possible.

  • Rebuilding Together: Over 45+  Shoreliners came together to help restore a home for a Monterey couple facing serious health issues.
  • Community Outreach  participated in the the Job Resources Fair put on by the church.  It was a huge success for our first event of this kind.  Nearly 500 people attended and were exposed to Shoreline Church.

UPCOMING:

  • We are having our ANNUAL Shoreline Work Day Sunday, May 30 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. There will be a special lunch for all workers.  Any questions contact dfederico@shorelinechurch.org or sign-up at the Community Outreach booth on Sunday.
  • We’re also taking sign-ups for Serve Saturday when we will be cleaning La Mirada Park in Monterey. This event will take place on  June 13 from  9:00 a.m. to  2:00 p.m.
  • As always, we have our bi-monthly visit to the Women’s Shelter in Seaside and our visit to the Convalescent Home every month.
